The Believer's Position in Christ5
This is the second MacArthur Commentary I have purchased (the first was Romans), and I must say that I am enjoying this one every bit as much as I did the first one I read.

Dr. Mac has a true gift for expository teaching. He can plumb the depths of scripture "comparing spiritual things with spiritual" without being pedantic. I am using this book in my own personal devotional time, and I am using some of his thoughts on election and predestination in a teaching series at our church.

Dr. MacArthur does a masterful job at making clear the believer's position in Christ. His approach is easily accessible to clergy and layman alike. He brings out strong doctrine, without dogmatism, or denominational slant.

Eventually, I hope to own most if not all of Dr. MacArthur's commentaries as I feel that they are immensely edifying.

INSIGHTFUL4
This commentary is one of my most useful resources. It's not necessary to go to seminary in order to understand MacArthur's insight. He presents the information clearly and does a good job of explaining how he arrived at a particular interpretation. He's especially thorough in explaining how the subject of discussion relates to other passages in scripture. He traces many of the key words back to the original Greek and explains their meanings. And he touches on some of the history as well. He does occasionally launch into a sermon which can get away from the main point of the verse. And sometimes I think he overlooks, skips, or misses some of the points that should be mentioned. However, this is still a good and valuable resource for anyone doing a deep study of the book.

Insightful commentary for Christians maturing in the spirit.5
This makes the fifth book from MacAurthur's New Testament Commentary books I have purchased. I use mine in my personal devotional time and in preparation for Sunday School lessons. The knowledge provided from an historical perspective add to the books appeal. The books are presented in a way so the average Christian can relate to today's wordly environment. The author gets to the "meat" of the subject and offers more than the usual Sunday School pre-packaged materials. I highly recommend any of the associated books contained within his series on the New Testament.
