Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of HopeEverything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope by Brian D. McLaren
Buy new: $14.29 / Used from: $3.16
Everything Must Change is reportedly McLaren's most powerful work. I've read Generous Orthodoxy and The Secret Message of Jesus. TSMJ I used with a church group - never again. Well maybe. This caused the more conservative, narrow minds to leave the discussion. The book includes a study guide at the end of each chapter.
The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the BibleThe Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible by Scot McKnight
Buy new: $12.91 / Used from: $8.43
McKnight's two major contribtions were The Jesus Creed and A Community Called Atonement (on sale at Cokesbury). His blog is http://blog.beliefnet.com/jesuscreed. Take a look ... Blue Parakeet invites us to read scripture not as an evangelical or liberal but to what McKnight calls a "Third Way"
It: How Churches and Leaders Can Get It and Keep ItIt: How Churches and Leaders Can Get It and Keep It by Craig Groeschel
Buy new: $12.91 / Used from: $8.67
Craig Groeschel is someone I believe is living and leading for Jesus in a great way. I was very impressed and moved by his talk at the Willow Creek Leadership Summit in Aug. His talk on "it" is one that I have shared with others. The book look interesting; however, it leans to the leadership genre that we discussed was saturating us.
