Average customer review:Product Description
In Tibetan religious literature, Jamgön Kongtrul's Treasury of Knowledge in ten books stands out as a unique encyclopedic masterpiece embodying the entire range of Buddhist teachings as they were preserved in Tibet.
The tantric path is often referred to as "the indestructible way of secret mantra," the essence of which is the indestructible union of wisdom (the understanding of emptiness) and method (immutable great bliss). This volume sets forth the various systems that constitute this path, both those of the ancient tantra tradition and of the new tradition.

From the Publisher
The translation group Dragyur Dzamling Kunkhyab founded by Venerable Kalu Rinpoche has recently completed the translation into English of the fourth chapter of Book Six of the ENCOMPASSMENT OF ALL KNOWLEDGE (Shes bya kun khyab), a major treatise authored by JamgonKongtrulLodro Taye. This particular chapter presents the complete system of the indestructible way (vajrayana) of secret mantra. The publication of this work is greatly needed and will be very helpful to all who are currently studying ordoing research into the Tibetan traditions of Buddhism. Buddha, the teacher, taught innumerable spiritual methods to guide sentient beings on the path to freedom. Fortunate ones with acute intelligence practice the heart of these teachings, the indestructible way of secret mantra. This way has many special qualities. It is superior tothe path of the sutras, includes many methods of practice, does not involve hardships, and is clear, direct, and enjoyable.
From the Author
""This crucial section of Jamgön Kongtrul's seminal masterpiece The Treasury of Knowledge will fill a long-standing critical gap in our understanding of Buddhist tantra. Never before has there been such a thorough and systematic exposition of the subject available in a Western language. Elio Guarisco and Ingrid McLeod have done an excellent job in translating this profound work to make it accessible to both scholars and practitioners. Finally, we might know what we are doing!"--Sarah Harding

A superb resource for advanced Buddhist practitioners
The Treasury Of Knowledge: Systems Of Buddhist Tantra is book six, part four of an encyclopedic set relating the entire breadth of Buddhist teachings as they were preserved in Tibet. Compiled by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Taye (1813-1899), a crucial figure in eastern Tibet's nonsectarian movement, and skillfully translated into English by trained linguists and practitioners of Buddhism Elio Guarisco and Ingrid Loken McLeod, Systems of Buddhist Tantra offers a systematic exposition upon the tantric path, often called "the indestructible way of secret mantra", which is the union of wisdom (the understanding of emptiness) and method (immutable great bliss). Chapters cover the nature, divistions, action, and conduct of tantra; yoga tantra; the nature of the mind and body; tantric scriptures; exposition methods; and much more. Extensive notes aid in the understanding of sometimes technical discourses related to yoga, scripture, states of being, and other matters. This is a superb resource for advanced Buddhist practitioners, students and scholars striving to better understand the wisdom and path to inner peace handed down through centuries.
