Hit or miss quality
I bought two. One was excellent, the other the plastic "cover" was drilled and cut crooked and totally unusable.

Pro:
+ When made right by the factory it will look and feel pretty nice
+ Do it yourself
+ I bought one in 2000, and two more in 2009 and yet they still look the same

Con:
- Cheap plastic overlay, even when made right... prone to scratching
- Tacks that the items ship with damaged the clear plastic overlay
- Item misrepresented (not solid wood) although I knew this before I bought it and didn't care

Bottom line: Not recommended unless you plan to buy many and are ok returning defective ones.

less than promised
I thought this was a great deal when I read the product description. Product title says "walnut," not walnut stain, not veneer. Product description says "solid wood." However the ones I received appear to be wood composite. One of the acrylic covers was scratched when I received it, not enough to go through the hassle of return, but scratched nonetheless.
