AWESOME ADDITION TO HOMESCHOOL LIBRARY
"Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we fail not." GALATIONS 6:9, KJV
Being a mum is hard. So much multi-tasking is required. What if you add the responsibility of your children's education into the mix? It certainly makes for an interesting life. It doesn't have to be unattainable though. Christine Field has come up with a practical guide to leading a balanced life whilst providing the best education for your child.
This book would be great for both the experienced homeschooling parent and the novice Homeschooler. It gives wonderfully practical advice about keeping your sanity when things seem to be overwhelming, how to avoid burnout, and brings it all back to what God says in his Word. I loved what she had to say about making a mission plan and that homeschooling could be even considered a "calling". WOW!
This book has made me feel better about our decision to homeschool our children. It would be a great addition to any homeschoolers bookshelf.
It helped this harried homeschooler
This book is very well written. The organization is superb, the ideas fresh and practical and the humor engaging. I really like the author's writing style and the personal stories she shares. She covers a wide variety of topics and actually gets down into them, instead of mentioning that they exist and wishing you the best at figuring it out. I came away feeling like a) I wasn't alone, b) I could do this because c) the book gave a lot of wonderful advice and how to apply it.
Several reviews mentioned that they didn't like the 'Christian' perspective. While not fundamentalist, I am Christian. I don't agree with some of the statements or expressions used, but I respect the author's right to write what she chooses. I felt in no way did the Christian statements detract from the book.
This book is a valuable resource. I have recommended it to other struggling, harried homeschoolers and will continue to do so because I feel it is one of the few homeschooling books I've read that really works.
Not what I expected....
There is nothing in the Amazon "book description" that suggests that this is a fundamentalist Christian book. Nothing wrong with a fundamentalist viewpoint...I just want to know ahead of time if I am buying a book that is as much about leading a Christian life as it is about homeschooling. I expected a book dealing with balancing my life as it pertains to homeschooling versus a book that covers balancing my life solely from a spiritual perspective. For some people, homeschooling and spirituality aren't the exact same thing. The description and title of the book could have been more forthcoming.
