From the Manufacturer
There are lots of cable manufacturers. There’s only one AudioQuest.
AudioQuest designs cables based on performance, not on abstract theory. That means they’re designed based on the ultimate test of performance – how it sounds to the human ear and looks to the human eye. AudioQuest crafts cables for those who seek truly superior audio and video performance, with less distortion, the clearest images, and the truest possible sound at all times on all home electronic equipment.
At first glance, AudioQuest’s starting line of audio interconnect cables look like traditional coaxial cables – but in fact, the Alpha-Snake, G-Snake, Sidewinder, and Copperhead incorporate advanced design features that greatly influence sound quality. These differentiators, both subtle and profound, explain how even the most more inexpensive AudioQuest cables can sound so good. AudioQuest interconnect cables have identical conductors for positive and ground connections. Underneath the 100% coverage foil shield that protects audio signals from outside interference is a bare conductor, just like the insulated center conductor. The conductor under the shield does double duty as a low distortion audio connect, and as the drain wire connecting the shield to the ground. AudioQuest cables have solid rather than stranded conductors. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in conventional cable is the most common source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are the key ingredient in enabling the very clear sound of the AudioQuest interconnecting cables.
These cables also have precision gold-plated plugs, carefully attached with the highest quality solder. Gold, as a noble metal, does not corrode easily and provides a highly conductive contact. All solder is a poor conductor, but through exacting choice of materials and metallurgic technique, AudioQuest solder is optimized for a low distortion connection. You can hear the difference. Audioquest interconnecting cables are low capacitance. They can be used in long lengths with almost any preamplifier.

| Value: Alpha-Snake AudioQuest Alpha-Snake’s solid 24 AWG conductors are made of LGC (Long Grain Copper), the very best OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. Because they contain fewer oxides, impurities, and grain boundaries, LGC conductors provide definitively better performance than ordinary copper conductors. The Alpha-Snake is also insulated with PVC, which has an extremely benign distortion profile throughout the audio range, keeping sound pleasant and natural. These features plus symmetrical coax geometry, precision gold-plated plugs, and low distortion AQ solder add up to impressive performance at a value price. Alpha-Snake pairs in a black stripe jacket are available in a range of lengths. | ![]() |
| Good: G-Snake AudioQuest G-Snake’s solid 24 AWG conductors are made of LGC (Long Grain Copper), the very best OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. Because they contain fewer oxides, impurities, and grain boundaries, LGC conductors provide definitively better performance. The G-Snake is insulated with PVC, which has an extremely benign distortion profile throughout the audio range, keeping sound pleasant and natural. These features paired with symmetrical coax geometry, precision gold-plated plugs and low distortion AQ solder allow the G-Snake to deliver exceptional performance at a reasonable price. With a unique blue and black braided jacket, G-Snake pairs are available in a range of lengths. | ![]() |
| Better: Sidewinder AudioQuest Sidewinder uses two solid Long Grain Copper conductors in a trademarked HyperLitz Shield geometry that significantly reduces magnetic interaction and prevents sound distortion. The Sidewinder also features foamed polyethelene insulation. By maximizing the amount of air around the conductors, foamed PE comes close to being electrically invisible, meaning that audio signals will not be absorbed and dirtied as they pass through. These unique features plus precision gold-plated plugs and low distortion AQ solder allow the Sidewinder to deliver spectacularly clear sound at a sensible price. With an attractive red and black braided jacket, Sidewinder pairs are available in a range of lengths. With a UL CL-3 rating, the Sidewinder can be used inside walls without conduit. | ![]() |
| Best: Copperhead AudioQuest Copperhead features two solid Perfect Surface Copper (PSC) conductors. Drawn and annealed through a proprietary integrated process, PSC is an exceptionally soft copper conductor with a perfectly smooth and uncontaminated surface for unimpeded sound. The conductors are arranged in a unique Hyperlitz Shield geometry to thwart magnetic interaction and further prevent distortion. They are also insulated by a foamed polyethelene dielectric. By maximizing the amount of air around the conductors, foamed PE comes close to being electrically invisible, meaning that the audio signals will not be absorbed and dirtied as they pass through. These high-quality materials and unique design features, along with precision gold-plated plugs and low distortion AQ solder, enable the Copperhead to deliver unprecedented clarity in an affordable cable. With a distinctive green and black braided jacket, Copperhead pairs are available in a range of lengths. With a UL CL-3 rating, the Copperhead can be used inside walls without conduit. | ![]() |
Customer Reviews
Quality that doesn't cost
It's easy to proclaim a company great when you are judging their top of the line product, but if you want a true measure of that company then you need to look all the way down the product line to their low-end. Audioquest spends just as much time and care at the bottom end of their product spectrum as they do at the top. Their G-Snake interconnect falls second to the bottom of their audio interconnect line, but judging by the cables quality in construction and clarity in sound, you wouldn't know it.
The cable itself is constructed from solid long grain copper, which is leaps and bounds in clarity from out of box audio cables, and even many so called "high end" cables that use an inferior oxygen-free high conductivity copper. The cable is wrapped in a beautiful blue and black braid and finished with gold plated RCA ends which are connected via a special solder developed by Audioquest for a low distortion connection.
Audioquest makes cables that range in price from a few dollars to that of a nice car (seriously). If you have never used a high-end cable before, and you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to connect middle to low range components, then this cable would be a great place for you to start. Throw away those cables that came in the box and plug in some quality that doesn't cost.
Better than expected
I ordered these hoping to gain clarity and depth of sound stage. These are directional RCA's which I would think lowers the impedance on the analog signal. I hear HUGE difference in sound clarity, I find i don't turn the volume up as loud as I used to, the sound is great. I definitely recommend these cables to get the most out of your HIFI components.
