Happy, Nostalgic Prog5
There are not too many reviews for this one, therefore I had to weigh in since this album is so good.
I took a chance with this album, not knowing what to expect, and I'm very happy with it. I've only listened to it twice, so I'll give my first impressions. The vocalist sounds like Ringo Starr, which is appropriate because the music and lyrics are fanciful and playful. The music takes you back to a happier and more optimistic time, the early 70s. If you work in a creative field, this album will inspire creativity. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of progressive rock or music from this era. I can't believe I went for so many years without hearing this. The radio stations have been really oppressive for not playing music like this. Take a chance, get this album and enlighten yourself.

A Time Machine Back to my Teens5
For any Brit who was in his or her teens or twenties in the late 60's/early 70's and who had a discerning ear, this album probably rates very highly. The two tracks that "bring it all back again" for me are the title track and "Golf Girl." The "Canterbury Sound", with its combination of whimsy and serious commitment to art, stands out from the banality of much of the era's popular culture. Beyond Hastings' and Sinclair's whimsy are engaging melodies that are replete with interesting time signatures supported by subtle harmony. Although their eponymous first album has a raw creativeness that perhaps surpasses this album, "Gray and Pink" is perhaps the Caravan album I would choose if I were only allowed one on my desert island. This is a must have album for afficianados of the "Canterbury Sound."

caravan was a special rock band5
This is supposed to be the ultimate Caravan album, but you know, the previous one "If I Could..." is probably *slightly* better. Probably because this album has some weak songwriting moments such as the pleasant, but ultimately passable title song. Yes, I realize most people love it, and you probably will to.

For me though, the highlight is clearly the 20+ minute jam that appears at the very end. It's truly mind-boggling awesome. Yes, we've ALL heard how adventurous music can be, but my goodness, THAT is a jam guaranteed to take your brain places! There's also a few scattered vocal melodies and just some good atmosphere in there as well. The jam consists mainly of that instrument that sounds like a keyboard but most people say it's a guitar so, whatever that thing is, it sounds VERY cool.

I find it cool I'm about to submit a review for an old and somewhat forgotten progressive rock album from the 70's only HOURS after someone else posted a review of their own, haha.
