Customer Reviews
great for job seekers
This book offers samples of typical interview questions and provides answers that HR folks are looking for. More importantly,it explains why they ask certain questions (what info they're trying to find out about you by asking those questions). After reading this book I fully understand why I didn't get my last promotion, I did everything wrong during the interview.
The interview questions are broken up into categories such as travel questions, questions about the past, education background questions, etc. This is not a book of canned answers for you to memorize and recite at an interview. This book simply explains what HR people are looking for so you can craft honest answers that impress and avoid anything that might raise a red flag. I used this book on my most recent interview and got the job making over ten thousand dollars a year more than that lousy promotion I lost.
This book also helped me out tremendously with some of the more troublesome questions that I always goof up, like tell me about a management decision you disagreed with. The author had some clever suggestions to get around sounding critical of former employers (a big no-no). I give the book 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it had a few more sample questions in it. I got blindsided with a couple of questions that I was rather unprepared for in the interview. The interviewer still told my recruiter that he was really impressed at how I answered some of the questions so I guess I shouldn't complain.
Overall this is book is a must have for job seekers, at only eight dollars you have nothing to lose. Anything that will help you get that good job or big promotion is surely worth eight bucks.
One caveat, the author states on numerous occasions that you should research your potential employer thoroughly and I can't emphasize that point enough. The more you know about the company, it's business model, it's products and generally how it conducts business, the more likely you are to be able to provide appropriate answers. Good Luck!
Awesome Resource!!!
This book is amazing!
Not only do I have more confidence, but also the clarity about what interviewers are looking for and expecting when I walk into any interview.
This isn't a book of insincere, canned answers that any interviewer can detect before the words roll off of an interviewee's lips, this is a very practical and adaptable book for everyone.
I am EXTREMELY grateful to have this at the beginning of my career search!
Purchasing this book is a no-brainer...If you sleep on this, please believe that the position you are applying for will be fulfilled by someone who has read this book.
Excellent Book to Help Strategy for the Tough Interview
I read this book and I found it to be a lifesaver for my interviews. As an employed attorney, this book enabled my focus to be on the proper areas and not the what if's. The tough questions were second nature.
Whether one is in a legal or nonlegal profession by reading this book, your interview will be second nature. If you fail to get a job it is due to reasons that are not related to your interview.
