A Reference For Career Centers rather than individuals
Over 87 Resume samples are included with a little bit of advice how to write them mixed in.
The resumes are split into very specific sections ranging from sales, health care, science and accounting, so for one person a large amount of the book is not hitting a direct target. Good for a career center where many different people will look.
Expert Resumes for Managers and Executives
This book was extremely helpful to me as I was revamping my resume to a C-Level status. Based on the samples from different industries and styles, I was able to piece together a unique resume that accomplishes what I want it to...sell me and my credentials without giving everything away. It is a straight forward approach and I would urge a reader to carefully review the different styles and formats before embarking on writing your resume. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to write one for yourself. A lot of us don't want to "brag" about our accomplishments, but that is what it's all about. Challenge, Action and Result (C.A.R.). That is how to approach it. Write an outline before you embark on the project and eliminate the "small" stuff, since that really isn't relevant and save it for the interview. It can be usd later to punctuate a point you want to make. Most of all, stay positive, focused and ethical...always tell the truth. You'll have a clear conscience because of it and if a few prospective employers balk at your accomplishments or whether you are really the capable person you say you are in your resume, re-think whether or not you want to work for that organization. The way you are treated in an interview is a harbinger to the way you'll be treated on the job. Trust your gut and if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Be polite and graciously back out if you feel that it is not for you. Never burn a bridge, both past and present. You never know when you'll need someone's help. This book is a fabulous reference tool and will help get your creative juices flowing. I receommend it because it helped me.
Good book for those who haven't recently written a resume.
This book gave me some great insight on creating a resume, which I haven't had to do in the last 13 years.
