Haunting, Otherworldly Soundscapes
This one was a real surprise for me; I purchased it on a whim, and will have to cite unfamiliarity with this style of music. However, after spending a good hour with this extremely hypnotic and very well-produced album, I became a true believer...

I think new age music in general tends to get a bad rap- some is admittedly hokey, and I am not a gigantic fan of the genre, although I do own a few good new "new-agey" albums- but some can be quite inspiring and really rise above your expectations. Michael Diamond is one talented individual- this CD washes over you in a wave-like, hypnotic manner, with ambient, soothing synth textures and effects and sparse, tranquil guitar explorations that suggest, but not quite define a melody. Very soothing and interesting stuff.....according to the CD liner, this is the first in a series of releases from this San Francisco musician; I am looking forward to hearing them. This is good music to relax with by candlelight and reflect on the day's events....
