![]() | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) by J.K. Rowling
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $8.99 I enjoyed the Harry Potter books and also enjoyed the movies. I look forward to seeing how they will make the 2 movies from the last book.
I wasn't completely shocked at how it all ended. I won't write any spoilers, but I think that the movie 6 kind of spoiled book 7. If I hadn't seen it, I think I would have been more surprised at some of the twists in this book.

![]() | Full House (Janet Evanovich's Full Series) by Janet Evanovich
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 Inevitably, I knew I would judge this book against Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (one of my favorites). This book did not even compare. The humor was missing and the romance was uninteresting.
About half way through, I thought I would rate this book 2 stars, but the last 50 pages bumped it up to a 3. I will check out the next book from the library, but I won't buy it.

![]() | The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Buy new: $7.47 / Used from: $2.42 I really had no idea what this book would be about, but my co-worker told me that she really enjoyed it and lent it to me. I liked how the book skipped around from future to past to present. It was like piecing a puzzle together reading it.
I didn't find the romance as gripping as some reviewers would have you believe. It was a depressing book, but still interesting.

![]() | The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $9.93 A dystopian novel that had my heart racing. Panem, formerly North America, runs an annual death match with children to prevent its citizens from civil unrest. The HUNGER GAMES are broadcast on television and mandatory watching for all.
I knew what would happen, but it was an exciting read and was impossible to put down. I dreaded going to work because I had to stop reading.

![]() | Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $7.45 This novel was the sequel to THE HUNGER GAMES, continuing the stimulating story from where it was left.
Just when you think the story is going one direction, it takes a drastic turn. I ended up gasping out loud numerous times as I was so surprised.
This was a great book. Now, I have to sit and wait for the end of the trilogy. Blah! I am inpatient!! :)

![]() | Tall, Dark & Hungry (Argeneau Vampires, Book 4) by Lynsay Sands
Buy used from: $8.50 I'm really not sure why I continue to check out these Argeneau vampire books from the library. Except for two books in the series, they are all almost the exact same story. People claim that they are hilarious, but I find that they are lacking humor and unique plot.
I guess I just feel like I need to finish the series for completion's sake? I don't know. I'm weird.

Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 What do you get when you cross my favorite author with one of those back-in-time PBS House reality series specials? THE CORSET DIARIES! :)
I always loved PBS' Manor House show. They took average people and put them back into an old English Manor house to live as the Edwardians did. This book has the same plot, but it throws in lots of humor and sexy action ;)

![]() | A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, Book 1) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.65 This is the first book in a series by the same author who writes the ANITA BLAKE VAMPIRE HUNTER series. If you've read any of these lists, you know my feelings toward that series.
This had quite a different feel to it. It was like a very adult/twisted version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. It was a very weird fantasy realm that held my interest.

Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.64 I told my husband I would watch TRUE BLOOD with him, but I wanted to be sure to read part of the book series before starting the television show.
This was an interesting book. I am not crazy about the heroine, Sookie, but I will continue the series. I had no idea while reading that Bubba = Elvis the Vampire :)

![]() | Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 I didn't like the first half of this book. The heroine was a vapid, lying woman. I couldn't understand how or why her boyfriend put up with her constant deception.
However, the second half of the book brought back some of Kinsella's token humor and emotion. There was a job interview scene that had me laughing. I finally started feeling some empathy for the heroine.

Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.99 I read the first book, EVERMORE, in this series back in May. It was okay, but I didn't remember much about it. I had to go read a bunch of plot summary recaps before I was able to understand this sequel.
This series just gets weirder. The first book's plot was weird enough. This one was even more strange, and definitely juvenille. It is a young adult book.

![]() | Kiss of Fire (Dragonfire, Book 1) by Deborah Cooke
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.45 The GOOD:
- Shape shifting dragons ;)
- Interesting dragon battles
- The concept of dragon slayers in this book was unique in that the slayers were themselves dragons.
The BAD:
- The main characters hooked up too fast
- The main dragon was wimply and not alpha enough for me
- The couple lacked passion that I would like in a dragon/human pairing

Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $3.07 This was a very fun read. I didn't know the plot going in - I just took a recommendation from someone. It was a unique story and was really refreshing.
The heroine in this chick-lit is immune to magic. Everyone in her company does magic and her non-magic advances her up the corporate ladder.
Definitely unique. I look forward to the rest of the series!

Buy new: $11.16 / Used from: $6.89 This was the second book in the Meredith Gentry series. It wasn't as good as its predecessor, but it was still quite entertaining to read.
Make no mistake about it, though. This is a very adult book. It kind of teeters on the edge of erotica at times. I heard someone else refer to it as "elf porn". *laugh* So, buyer beware :)

Buy used from: $0.01 The cover and title got my attention and attracted me to this book. Unfortunately, I really hated it. What could have been a cute and humorous story was just boring and not at all funny. I struggled to not skim pages at a time. The characters were unbelievable and annoying.

![]() | Dead to the World (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback) by Charlaine Harris
Buy used from: $5.95 The author used a plot device that should have had me upset. You know the type - when one of the main characters suddenly gets amnesia and can't remember who he/she is?
Still, I really enjoyed this book :) There was an epic battle with all sorts of paranormal sorts. I actually appreciated the plot device because it will leave the future open to more romantic tension.

I look forward to the next book...

I had to stop reading and read the anthology story from BITE.

![]() | Bite by Laurell K. Hamilton
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.30 This wasn't a bad anthology.
Charlaine Harris story helped answer all my unsolved questions about Sookie book 6.
Maryjanice Davidson story had Queen Betsy as a side character. It was a cute story.
Laurell K. Hamilton had a little tidbit of action between Jean-Claude and "ma petite".
Angela Knight's story was full of steamy sex.
I didn't read the other story.

Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $1.40 This is the sequel to STRAY (read last month; kept me up all night because it was exciting).
This book wasn't as good as STRAY. It was a little slow. However, the ending set up for some interesting future plot points that I definitely will want to read about.

Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01 Kate Marsh is a pseudonym for one of my favorite authors, Katie MacAlister. I believe she chose this different name to distinguish her "mystery" books from her other paranormal books.
The imps in this book stole the show. They made me laugh. The book showed lots of promise, but I was kind of let down in the end. I think I missed MacAlister's typical romantic storyline.
