Inevitably, I knew I would judge this book against Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (one of my favorites). This book did not even compare. The humor was missing and the romance was uninteresting. About half way through, I thought I would rate this book 2 stars, but the last 50 pages bumped it up to a 3. I will check out the next book from the library, but I won't buy it. 3/5 stars Sep '09

A dystopian novel that had my heart racing. Panem, formerly North America, runs an annual death match with children to prevent its citizens from civil unrest. The HUNGER GAMES are broadcast on television and mandatory watching for all. I knew what would happen, but it was an exciting read and was impossible to put down. I'm really not sure why I continue to check out these Argeneau vampire books from the library. Except for two books in the series, they are all almost the exact same story. People claim that they are hilarious, but I find that they are lacking humor and unique plot. I guess I just feel like I need to finish the series for completion's sake? I don't know. This is the first book in a series by the same author who writes the ANITA BLAKE VAMPIRE HUNTER series. If you've read any of these lists, you know my feelings toward that series. This had quite a different feel to it. It was like a very adult/twisted version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. It was a very weird fantasy realm that held my interest. 5/5 stars Sep '09

I didn't like the first half of this book. The heroine was a vapid, lying woman. I couldn't understand how or why her boyfriend put up with her constant deception. However, the second half of the book brought back some of Kinsella's token humor and emotion. There was a job interview scene that had me laughing. The GOOD: - Shape shifting dragons ;) - Interesting dragon battles - The concept of dragon slayers in this book was unique in that the slayers were themselves dragons. This was the second book in the Meredith Gentry series. It wasn't as good as its predecessor, but it was still quite entertaining to read. Make no mistake about it, though. This is a very adult book. It kind of teeters on the edge of erotica at times. I heard someone else refer to it as "elf porn". *laugh* So, buyer beware :) 4/5 stars Sep '09

The cover and title got my attention and attracted me to this book. Unfortunately, I really hated it. What could have been a cute and humorous story was just boring and not at all funny. This was the sequel to the unique book ENCHANTED, INC. This one continued on the same path as the first, but wasn't quite as good. However, it was still a fun read. It had a nice mystery to solve. :) It was pretty interesting in that it introduced me to a new term that I looked up in the urban dictionary website: Stealth Dating. Hehe :) 4.5/5 stars Sep '09

If you read this series, don't make the same mistake that I just made. I was about 2/3 of the way through the book, and I was puzzled about some events the author mentioned had occured. I couldn't remember the scenes. Then, I found out that there was an anthology that contained a short story with those events. I had to stop reading and read the anthology story from BITE. 5/5 stars Oct '09

The outcome of this particular novel was very predictable. However, it was still an interesting story that kept my attention! :) Sookie continues to entertain me. I like learning about the vampire power structure. It's quite an interesting world that Charlaine Harris has built in these books. I will definitely finish up the series! 5/5 stars Oct '09

This is the sequel to STRAY (read last month; kept me up all night because it was exciting). This book wasn't as good as STRAY. It was a little slow. However, the ending set up for some interesting future plot points that I definitely will want to read about. I still am a big Jace fan. The main love interest in this book seems abusive to me. This was another exciting Sookie Stackhouse book. This book was a little darker than some in the series, and it was packed with action. I wish the next book in the series was already out!!!! I read that it will be titled DEAD IN THE FAMILY and will be published next year. It will definitely be on my must-buy list. :) 5/5 stars Oct '09

I started book 3 in the Merry Gentry series and was concerned that nothing happened in the first half of the book to advance the plot. However, once Merry and her guards arrived back at the Unseelie court, things got very interesting quickly. I read until 2am last night, and then immediately started book 4 in the series because I wanted to know what would happen! :) 4/5 stars Oct '09

I was worried this book would just be another lust-fest with no plot advancement. Luckily, I got a battle scene and an exciting developmment in the last 15 pages. This book was so short. It really could have just been a couple chapters added to book 4. I figure the next book *HAS* to be exciting. Then again, I seem to always end up disappointed. 4/5 stars Oct 09

This novel epitomized the idea of DEUS EX MACHINA, but I still thought it was great. Favorite quote: "We are not created equal in talent. But the place where we are least equal is the heart. You can work at a talent, take lessons, but love, love either works or it doesn't. You love someone or you don't. You can't change it. You can't undo it." 5/5 stars Oct '09

Once again, I enjoyed some of the dragon fights in this book. However, I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters and felt the book lacked spunk. It's too bad. I usually really like dragon books. I will continue to read the series, though. 2.5/5 stars Oct '09
