Buy used from: $31.24 Best guide to German grammar period. Most recent edition is a bit pricey, but try and hunt down one published by at least 1986. If you're a beginner with adequate knowledge of English grammar, this book should do quite well. If you're a serious self-learner, it is a must. Other (more basic) books may be needed if you are the casual student. Excellent resource to have on hand, simply the best.

Buy new: $17.16 / Used from: $7.78 I've retained my English grammar from gradeschool well, but I know we weren't all taught the same English, and not everyone has memory like me. This book should help as an grammar-refresher if you're lacking, and it is a definite must if you want to learn German, but the grammar scares you. From the reviews I've read, it's extremely helpful.

Buy new: $7.50 / Used from: $0.49 Nice little pocket dictionary. Compact, great to store in your backpack for school. Fairly complete for its size; I only had to switch to another dictionary a few times for school.
