From the Inside Flap
The Rottweiler, one of the most imposing and impressive of all abreeds, has a worldwide fan club. Originally used for herding and protecting cattle on their way to market, this German-bred dog was soon adopted as a guard by security forces in countries far away from its native home. However, in the right hands, the Rottweiler also makes a superb companion, particularly for those who want to train their dog to compete in Working Trails, Obedience and Agility events, or in the more specialized areas of Herding and Carting. The Rottweiler's handsome looks also ensure its success ion the show ring.

In The Ultimate Rottweiler, 2nd Edition, Editor Andrew Brace has recruited a star-studded cast of specialists to write the definitive book on the breed. For the first time in the history of the breed, experts from Germany, Britian, and the United States have pooled resources to give the most comprehensive coverage of the Rottweiler today. Starting with in-depth reserach into the origins and development of the breed, the experts go on to analyze the Breed Standard in detail. An acclaimed feature of The Ultimate Rottweiler is "The Judge's View," in which an American, British, and German judge make a pictorial critique of six different Rottweilers.

The critical importance of training and socialisation is emphasized throughout the book, as well as detailed information on feeding, genetics, health care, and inherited conditions. There is also a special feature on breeding and rearing Rottweilers.

The Ultimate Rottweiler, lavishly illlustrated with more than 200 color photographs, is a "must-have" reference for the true Rottweiler enthusiast.

Purebred "Pink Papered" German Rottweilers!5
To start with, the cover has the MOST handsome male Rottweiler that has ever lived. No other book on the breed reads as well as this text does. It begins with the breed history and goes through every facet of selecting, socializing, training, showing, feeding, & loving your newest family member! As I read this text, I was torn between staring (longingly) at the gorgeous photos (especially the pups!) and reading the involving text written by breed experts. The chapter on diet was especially detailed. Likewise, the chapter on Rottweiler characteristics will have you desperate to acquire a conforming Rott, because they are such an astonishingly capable animal. They can search for objects and people as early as 18 months old! They are not a nervous breed. They instinctively want a strong leader. A big step towards becoming that strong knowledgeable leader is to buy this book. If I was to have a complaint about The Ultimate Rottweiler, it would be that the book has made me turn-up my American nose at the thought of purchasing an American bred Rott.(maybe I'm wrong) I want a purebred "Pink Papered" (read the book?) German Rottweiler for companionship and outdoor fun. If anyone knows how I can purchase a descendent of the Rottweiler on the cover - please let me know - he is eye candy! I have three other Rottweiler text, that I purchased after the Ultimate Rottweiler - they were all relatively disappointing (especially the photos!).

Comprehensive knowlegeable study of the rottweiler.5
Having 3 generations of rottweilers and having read several books, this book satiated my long-standing unanswered questions and gave me additional insight to this very noble breed.

This book is the ULTIMATE.4
After spending almost a year researching the breed of dog that would suit me best, I finally found Zoe, she is the best companion, and my best friend. The Ultimate Rottweiler is an excellent source of information to help the first time owner of this awesome breed. My dog is almost a year old, wish I had had this book from her first weeks with me, but it is reinforcing all that I have done right, and a bit wrong. Socialization is of upmost importance with this breed. Excellent book.
