Good saw - unusable blade.
It takes some time to set this saw up ...not a lot of time, but be prepared to put in some effort aligning the blade guides. There are about a dozen things that need to be adjusted to get the saw ready to run well. The instructions are good; follow them.
After all setup I started using the saw and found it to be impossible to cut anything remotely straight with it. I tweaked the adjustments - but still no luck. Out of frustration I tried ordering a Morse blade from Amazon as a last effort before junking the thing ...and it paid off. With an eight dollar blade investment this thing is able to rip clean and straight and make nice curves as well.

Pros: Functional and inexpensive.
Cons: Terrible blade and moderate tool vibration.

Great bang for the buck
This is a good saw for the money. It's a huge step up from the jig saw that you may be using. It's not a heavy-duty item--you should not plan to resaw white oak. But if you need to cut some curves and don't/can't put out a few hundred bucks for a 14" saw, this is a great choice. I've had mine for several years. With a sharp blade, it does what a band saw should.

Shopmaster 9" band saw
This saw has worked well for me. I do light work. I would not recommend this item for heavy use. The blade tends to go off line even with the guids tight and closely positioned to the work. This might be due to the thin blades.
