Otter makes some of the best cases in the world and you shouldn't expect anything that attempts to resemble style from an Otter case.

Our employees are becoming numb to the durability to the point that some of them have gone wading in water with their Otter wrapped 8800, another one threw his off a four story building to another employee on the ground who doesn't catch as well as they think.

The water wader thoroughly ruined his phone but interestingly, their were still dry parts inside the 8800 when our IT people disassembled it so the Otter did its best and our tech guys believe they can revive it with a new battery and some thorough blow drying.

The other one that went sailing 40 ft straight down only suffered a cracked Otter case, but the 8800 survived without a scratch or broken screen.

If you don't require too much protection, you can also use the Nextel NTZ6510 which is a semi rigid polyester weave case with an indestructible belt clip and strong velcro flap over case. It is tough enough but still stylish enough to wear with a suit and fits every Blackberry we've tried including the new Bold 9000 and every full keyboard BB made before it.

I really wanted to like this item
Ok, before you get upset over this somewhat negative review, I have waited several weeks to write it and I am being rational - promise.

There are several acceptable negatives... size, for example and issues with battery replacement (I carry 6 spares since I am sometimes away from power). I can live with these as a trade-off.

However, I was not ready for the ease with which the charge-plug cover ripped off when I pulled the power/data cord out accidentally gripping that rubber cover (ok, maybe my bad). Nor was I ready to have the swivel belt clip shear off when I smacked the edge of a chair sitting down (ok, maybe my bad). These two "mishaps" happened within two weeks of ownership, so there is no way this thing would have held up for me over a period of time to justify the cost layout.

The screen/keyboard cover works very nicely and overall I like the rugged look and concept... however in actual real world application it did not hold up. (P.S. I have a desk job and am not a wild or crazy guy by nature). I have convinced myself this is really a 2 star product.

Fast delivery and as avertised, NIB
After looking through the many available BB8800 cases around the net the Otterbox appeared to be the best. After a few weeks of use it has proven itself. It's an easy case to disassemble and reassemble to clean (don't use the plastic cover shell) every other weekend as dust and pocket lent collects in the corners of the screen. It does add a little weight and added dimensions, but fits well in side pockets though not suggested when wearing tight jeans.
