Customer Reviews

Way too big for a candelabra fixture2
I ordered these bulbs to go in the lamp in our ceiling fan but they are too large to fit. In fact I have unsucessfully tried to place them in other lights but they look weird. I am all about using CFLs but these are probably three times the size of normal 40w candelabra bulb.

Chandelier fluorescents4
I bought these bulbs for a kitchen light fixture because they had a small base. The bulbs replaced incandescents that burned out fairly often. So far they are very good. The light output is strong, possibly better than the 40 Watt bulbs they replaced. The only problem with them is they are longer than the bulbs they replaced and hang below the glass. Given the shape this does not look bad for a kitchen fixture.

Measure your chandelier first!3
Like several others, I purchased these to replace the bulbs in my kitchen, foyer, stairway, hallways and dining room chandeliers. The base fits but the bulb is WAY too big. They won't fit in the chandelier with a ring above the bulb to hold the shades. They stick out of the top of another chandelier. They look dumb in the glass chandeliers (do they have to look so industrial?) and they don't give off nearly the light they compare themselves to. The only place I've been able to use them is in the outside light fixtures.
I really want to help the environment and cut my electric use but darn! I can't replace every chandelier and sconce in my older home and I STILL need to be able to see!
If you have shades on your chandelier, measure the height to the top. These are about 5" tall! As someone else pointed out, about 4x the size of a incandescent candelabra bulb.
Come on bulb makers - don't make it so hard for us to do the right thing.
