12" diameter and 5" deep, usable capacity is more than the shallower dutch ovens. It's very good for stews, roasts, whole chicken. It's a bit tall for cornbread or other low profile items that you want to brown. For my family of four the combination of the 8 quart "deep" and the 4 quart dutch oven make a good pair. For storage the 4 quart without lid will fit inside the 8 quart.
