It has a built-in analog/digital (NTSC/ATSC) tuner that will receive free over-the-air HDTV signals and is Digital Cable Ready, so you can enjoy digital cable without an additional box or remote. Its 175-degree horizontal viewing angle provides a picture-perfect entertainment experience from anywhere in the room. It also offers a good range of connections for DVD, DTV, PC, HDTV sources.

Samsung's DNIe™
Samsung's revolutionary DNle™ (click for demo) technology offers digital perfection in naturally presented, crystal-clear images that uncover even the most minute detail.

Motion Optimizer
Fast-moving images are optimized to produce more natural-looking motion, thus reducing video noise or blurring.

Contrast Enhancer
Brightness and contrast levels are enhanced for deeper, richer blacks with greater detail and more natural whites.

Color Optimizer
Colors are reproduced with a more lifelike realism, whites are more accurate, and skin tones are given a more natural hue.

Detail Enhancer
DNIe analyzes video signal elements to produce sharper detail, clearer image separation, and more natural edge transition.
Samsung's new floating screen plasma TV creates an image that looks as if it is suspended in thin air. The new, premium "bezel-less" design means there's no frame around the TV for a big, beautiful picture without boundaries. Bottom-mounted speakers and a sleek silver/black color scheme are perfect for elegant, modern decors.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. Because everyone sees colors differently, Samsung's DNIe My Color Control allows you to adjust the individual colors of your set without distorting other colors. The range of color adjustment includes Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Red and White. This ensures true to life colors such as green grass, blue sky and realistic skin tones. White Tone Enhancement also ensures the purest, brightest whites possible.

The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. The HP-R5052 also offers a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 1300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and amazing 10,000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) Picture-in-picture (PiP) with side-by-side split screen enables convenient simultaneous viewing of TV programs and video or PC sources. Other adjustable video features include color tone, picture mode, aspect ratio, and sound mode.

Other features include a fanless cooling design for low noise operation, VESA wall mount compatibility, and discrete IR codes for use with a macro/programmable remote for creating your own functions. Control all your Samsung A/V components through a single TV remote with Samsung's Anynet system, a network control solution for operating a wide variety of Samsung devices.

The 30-watt stereo audio system (two 15-watt speakers) delivers ample sound for sports and movies. It can provide SRS TruSurround XT virtual surround sound, which solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over the TV's two speakers. It features the following video and audio connections:

  • Composite AV (RCA) In: 1
  • S-Video In: 1
  • Component Video In (Y PB PR): 2
  • HDMI In: 1
  • RF In: 2

Definitely can't complain...5
I return EVERYTHING... This sucker is currently mounted on my wall via HDMI to a Denon 4306 receiver w/ multiple sources. HD looks Fantastic... I haven't done much tweaking but then again, I haven't really had to. My family room looks likes & sounds like a movie theater & now all my buds have already volunteered me for the Manny Pacquiao fight, the superbowl, UFC & so forth... As I stated earlier, I return EVERYTHING. I went through 3 receivers until I got to the 4306 (which ROCKS BTW) but this bad boy isn't going anywhere.

***UPDATE 05/22/06***

I've been using the TV for almost 6 months now. I do have 1 complaint. The location of the HDMI cable. The power cable inserts in an ideal, logical location (away from the wall when flush mounting it) BUT the HDMI cable plugs directly into the back of the TV & sticks out several inches. When you mount the TV, if you angle it down beyond a certain point, you'll end up crushing (destroying) the HDMI cable into the wall. This would only cause issues if the TV is mounted too high up on a fireplace mantel, etc... Kind of an annoying design flaw, but other than that the TV is great.

Just an FYI as well; I got the TV on sale from Circuit City. (I Promised the salesperson that he could wall-mount my set if he gave me a killer discount) I was too scared to deal w/ Amazon's NON-Return policy of televisions 27" & larger. It's impossible to have a 100% success rate (of zero damaged goods) when delivering large, fragile electronics. They expect you to pull the plasma out of the box & test it right there on the spot before the delivery person leaves. Until they come up w/ a better policy, I'll stick to local vendors OR reputable online companies such as Crutchfield who offer 100% satisfaction guarantees. (although the price tags are a bit steeper)

God Yes!5
This is the ultimate in television enjoyment. It will put you back some cash but it's worth it. It is so crisp and clear the surround sound is amazing and the volume can go up to 100 but normal day time volume is 12 so it goes up pretty damn loud.I havent found use for the other sources, dvds play wonderful on it, games even better. Samsung has outdone themselves.

In Use For Over A Year And .......5
After much research I ended up buying this Samsung as an open box at BestBuy. Samsung is not my favorite brand. I am hoping that the Samsung of today may be lots better than the Samsung of old. I based my decision on which plasma to buy on how much bang for the buck I could get (picture quality, size, looks, price, etc). I also picked up a three year warantee, just in case. This was my first HD so I wasn't sure what to expect. After using this set for a year the following are my findings: Most people who have purchased their first plasma TVs (from what I have read) are saying that you shouldn't expect your normal analog channels to be anywhere near HD looking when you go to digital, because they won't be. These channels may be better than your old set but I have noticed many of mine were worse probably because the bigger screen shows all the imperfections that you don't see on your smaller 32 inch standard set. I would say that only 20% of the digital channels were better, about 40% were the same and 40% appeared worse. As time goes on there will be lots more digital and HD channels. Now the good news! The HD channels on this set are SPECTACULAR. I don't mean good... I mean simply Spectacular. I haven't seen better anywhere. The black border on this set is really nice too and makes for a nice frame for the picture. It appears to me that the picture has gotten better as time goes on and I think I read that this happens. "Burn in" is no longer a huge issue with plasmas if you use some common sense and make sure you don't leave a static image on the screen for hours and hours. You may have to play around with the settings to get the picture that suits you but that is very easy to do. I can't think of anything that I don't like about this set. I realize that you can get good and bad in any model so you are always taking your chances, but I would certainly recommend this plasma TV at this super price... but for some piece of mind get an extended warantee if possible.
