Product Description

What nasty shark lurks in your opponent's hand? Could it be the Great White? Here's a card game that plays like "Old Maid" but, all the cards are sharks (some nice, some not so nice) and the one you don't want to end up with is, you guessed it, the Great White! Fourteen species of sharks are represented in all (with life-like illustrations by noted Hawaiian illustrator Les Hata): from the frivolous little cookie cutter shark to the majestic whale shark; from the common blacktip reef shark to the extremely rare megamouth. For those who have forgotten how to play Old Maid, there are instructions, and, by taking out the Great White card, you can play Go Fish! with the same deck. 54 poker-size playing cards in all.

About the Author
This is the second in a series of educational card games developed by marine biologist and journalist Elaine de Man, creator of Go Fish! Hawaii. Hoping to share her love of the ocean, and the creatures that inhabit it, with her two young children, de Man takes games that everyone is already familiar with and combines them with lessons in natural history. As result she has made learning about the marine environment fun and something the whole family can enjoy whether or not they ever don snorkel, mask and flippers. For Great White! she teamed up with noted fish illustrator Les Hata to make sure the sharks depicted were life-like in their appearance, helping to give players a familiarity with the creatures of the sea.

Great Game!5
My son (8 years old) loves this game. You can play it two different ways. One way is like "Go Fish" and the other way is to try to avoid getting the Great White card. The cards are well made and have descriptions of the different sharks along with their latin names. Since we live in Hawaii, learning about sharks is important and fun.
