Amazon.com Product Description
Attractively housed in brushed stainless steel, this stylish toaster not only looks great in any contemporary kitchen, but it also toasts bread to crispy perfection. Simply add one or two slices, lower the lever, and turn the browning-control knob from one to six for light or dark, depending on the shade desired. Toast pops up automatically when it's ready to be slathered with butter and jam. The unit's self-centering, extra-wide slots will accommodate slices of homemade bread, English muffins, bagels, and more. In addition, its simple push-button controls include "frozen" for thawing and toasting frozen items, "bagel" for toasting the cut side and warming the outside, "reheat" for warming previously toasted foods, and "cancel" for ending the session at any time. Other thoughtful details include a function indicator light, an extra lift that raises bread higher for easy removal of smaller items, cord storage, and a slide-out crumb tray for quick cleanup. The 1400-watt toaster measures approximately 12 by 8 by 9 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Attractive solidly built toaster!
I bought this toaster to replace my 14 year old Procter Silex toaster, which still works great, but had some issues that were starting to annoy me. I looked at this and a Cuisinart model, but decided to go with the Black and Decker because it looked more attractive. I must say that I am not dissapointed thus far. I love the bagel, defrost and reheat settings! My old toaster had wide slots, but the ones on the Black and Decker are larger, so they will do better with toasting bagels. Another thing I love about this toaster is that when you choose the "bagel" setting it only browns one side of the bagel. How cool is that?! The other cool feature of this toaster is the lift up feature. My old toaster required me to break out the untensils to get the bagels out, so this is really a plus. The only reason why I am giving this toaster a 4 and not a 5 is because it doesn't appear to have the cool touch feature. The sides of the toaster get pretty hot. Other then that this toaster is well worth the $$$.
By the way, the product description indicates that this is a 1400 watt toaster. That is incorrect. It is 850 watts. So, those that maintain this site might want to update the description. My old toaster was 900 watts and this outperforms it by a mile.
A great bargain for a great price
After reading other reviews, I decided to purchase this toaster and I have not been disappointed. Something similar would cost twice as much at a regular department store. I love the stainless steel look and the buttons that let me choose what I am toasting.
Mediocre, but does the job
Good looking toaster that's well built but lacks the performance suitable for true toast satisfaction. I guess the product team didn't really test it with items from the local grocery store. It does a fine job toasting the lower 75% of your bagel/toast/large English muffin leaving the top 25% relatively warm and noticeably less "toasted." Small items such as Thomas' English muffins do just fine, but put a bagel in there and you might need to rotate it halfway through the toasting cycle. Additionally, the control knob changes the toasting quite a bit b/w 4.5 and 5 on the dial, so be careful else you'll burn things. Lastly, this toaster's speed is a bit on the casual side, too, taking noticeably longer to get the job done.
