make a mocha
Down here in SW Florida, I'm an iced coffee drinker. So for years I've been starting my day with the atkins milk chocolate shake mixed (roughly 1 to 2 proportions) w/ iced coffee. The shake by itself I find not very tasty, but with iced coffee it's sort of like a Cafe Mocha, and it really helps with the blood sugar start for the day. Depending on the coffee, I add one splenda, but always served very cold. It's great for a mom-on-the-run.
Very Good Served VERY Cold! Recommended!
As a Type 2 Diabetic, I try to keep my carb and calorie intake as low as possible. I have been using various low carb shakes for over a year now and find the Atkins brand to be one of the best. The more expensive Slim-Fast Low-Carb Ready To Drink, Creamy Chocolate, 11-Ounce Cans in 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6) is the best tasting in my opinon, but it is slightly higher in both carbs and calories. The SlimFast also comes in cans, not these cardboard packs.
All of these shakes taste best when served very cold and poured in to a glass.

What were they thinking?
I don't mind them redesigning the container, but why did they reformulate the contents? The old Atkins shakes had a taste and texture that was creamy and deliciously decadent, and satisfied me for several hours. The new formula has less calories and more carbs (doesn't that go against the Atkins principals?) and is watery, flavorless, and I'm hungry again in less than an hour. Being a previously devoted Atkins shake fan, I hate to say this, but Slimfast Low Carb shakes now taste better than the new Atkins shakes. Atkins cost more than Slimfast Low Carb, but they used to be worth it! I do have a hint though, if you add a couple of servings of half-and-half (the kind that are for adding to coffee) to the shake, it helps create a creamier shake that is a bit more satisfying. But why should I have to? Why did they think they had to fix something that wasn't broken?
