Ideal for trapping small raccoons, muskrats, opossums, and similar-size nuisance animals. The Havahart two-door cage trap has been designed for the safety of animals. This humane trap, with its two spring loaded doors, has many features to allow safe, quick and easy catches. Constructed of sturdy wire mesh with steel reinforcements for long life, and galvanized for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. Mesh openings are smaller than competing traps of comparable size to prevent escapes and stolen bait. Two spring loaded doors allow animals to enter from either direction. Sensitive trigger ensures quick, secure capture. Solid door and handle guard protect user during transportation, while smoothed internal edges protect and prevent injuries to animals. GREAT PRODUCT
This product works great. Superfast shipping. I have squirels in my attic and they were pulling down my insulation. I caught 3 squirels and set them free unharmed. This cage is a great idea.
it works
It takes a few minutes to figure out how the thing works,
the levers had to be moved a bit after the shipment, but it does catch the bushy-tailed pests all right.
You must figure out how to dispose of them: if don't you have a heart to dip the trap into a water-filled garbage can, drive at least 5 miles away before letting them out. Spray-paint the behind to see if they come back.
Beware: it is illegal to release them in NJ, so whatever you do, avoid the public eye.
Great squirrel trap, probably too small for racoons.
This is a great trap for squirrels. I use peanut butter on the trigger and smear some at the front of each entrance to lure them in. If you remember to put down the lock levers, it's very rare for a squirel to get to the bait without getting trapped. If you can't catch dozens of squirrels with this, your doing something wrong.
I probably caught over 300 in the past 10 years with my last trap before someone stole it on me. These hold up well to years of service.
I've also hung these out my window balanced on my gutter to catch a problem squirrel or two in my attic.
I doubt this would be the right size for a raccoon. The smaller squirrel traps are too small and squirrels can get out before the doors close.
