Very fun for about 4th grade and up. This small kit has plenty of activities. No need to get the more expensive ones unless your child shows a real interest.

Great activities to make history fun.

This is not exactly like the one we have, but is similar. On ours the board slides closed for magnet storage, has a handle and desk with drink holder on the other side- but you get the idea. My son could read before he could write, so we used the magnetic alphabet to practice spelling and new words. My kids loved to take this in the car when they were little.

Like Scrabble, but without all the fussy rules- any word is okay. This makes it great for young learners and a good way to work on spelling skill. We like to play this with an on-line dictionary handy to check our words. It is amazing how many strange and new ones we have learned!

Anything by Ed Emberley is wonderful. We started with this book and fell in-love with his work. He shows you how ANY kid can draw anything with his simple system of lines and circles. Very easy to use and really builds confidence.
