Editorial Reviews
Review
"Admittedly, the album and their overall sound is meant to emulate that of such great harmony driven acoustic rock artists as The Eagles and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. And they do succeed in delivering both the sound and the strong song structure of the mentioned influences. "Calling All Friends," is a track you very well may have already heard as it's the theme song for ABC's What About Brian and is a good representation of what the whole album is - positive messages and soothing sounds". --Blog Critics.org

"These are the types of songs I d expect my friends to play sitting around a campfire, except instead of bad solos and ill-timed harmonies, you are given a well produced combination of sugary/rootsy guitars, simple drums and perfect harmonies. They add some layers and textures like the latin horns on Mexico - but the jam session outro to Tracks in the Rain, double solo scatting section on Tracks in the Rain, and the double tracked guitars of Why Not Your Baby really sum up this record. You actually feel that this record was made for the fun of writing songs like this again. It s for the love of the music. When I listen to this record, I picture these guys sitting down and one of them starting to play. After seeing the chord patterns, slowly the other three guys jump in and start tossing in harmonies on the chorus or some oohs and aahs". --Herohill.com

"Sounding like the love child of the Eagles and the Mamas and the Papas, the Low Stars' music evokes memories of a not so distant past when the lines between folk, country, and rock music were more easily blurred. Their sweet harmonies soothe your senses. This is the kind of music you play in the car on the way home from work to unwind after a rough day, or use as background music during a dinner party. From start to end, there isn't a bad or mediocre song on the disc. If you're looking for fast or hard music, you might be disappointed. While the music is exceptional, it is mostly on the mellow side. If that type of music doesn't appeal to you, then you'll probably want to skip this particular CD. The opening song, "Tell the Teacher", introduces you immediately to one of the finer aspects of the Low Stars music - their harmonies. " --Curlio.com
Customer Reviews
Wow, bad idea
I bought this CD because I heard one song on the CD that played on the Accuradio listening post. I thought I liked it and, based on the song, figured there would be some good harmozing and such, a chill cd.
But, I was horribly surprised by the entire album. The lyric writing is pathetic, I was surprised anyone would ever produce a record with such weak lyrics - I mean, whoever did should be banned from this point on cause the lyrics are completely unoriginal, uninspired, and wholeheartedly unimportant.
After that debacle, I tossed the album at the nearest wall and thanked God I only spent 5 bucks on it. I'm planning on giving it to a musical friend of mine, as a joke.
I don't normally leave feedback on anything, but in this case it seemed vital, save your money and avoid low stars...
Just good music, pure and simple.
I had to get this through Amazon (US) as it is not available in the UK at all. I first heard of the Low Stars by catching the theme tune to a show called 'What about Brian' and wondered what else they'd done. Trust me you won't be disappointed by the rest of this album. Its not often I'll listen to every track all the way through on a CD these days but this seems to just glide by and I like every song on there. Brilliant work guys, can't wait to hear more.
JUDE!
I knew I recognized that voice on the song "Calling All Friends" when I heard it on the radio. Jude has some other albums out, though the lyrics are somewhat depressing and/or sarcastic. I enjoy Jude by himself, but I think I love him more here, on this album!!
