To parents, they're the new Hanson. To kids who've been tuning into Radio Disney and flipping the pages of Tiger Beat, they're geniuses. Jonas Brothers, the sophomore effort from the close-knit, close-up ready trio of New Jersey boys, is a mercilessly catchy collection of short but sweet punk- and emo-flavored confections. "Goodnight and Goodbye" grabs hold with guitar-fueled urgency, "Still in Love" borrows from old-school acts like KISS to build a slighter, kid-friendlier brand of classic rock, and "Games" has a respectable go at ska without sacrificing much in the way of pure-pop accessibility. The whole disc follows suit--a couple of ballads slide in ("Hello Beautiful" is a pretty one), but the brothers don't do much to dispel the idea that for them, uptempo ditties are where it's at. Twelve-year-olds, take note: CDVU+, the new format pioneered by Disney, takes cuteness into account; because this disc is configured with bonus material, photos and posters of Nick, Kevin, and Joe are just clicks away. --Tammy La Gorce

Nice, if you like the music equivalent of pablum
The Jonas Brothers are geniuses in the same way Britney Spears was the most original artist of her generation. Basically, the cultural powers that be at Disney decided to pluck a New Jersey trio of photo-ready teens from obscurity and ram them down the throats of teenage girls (especially the ones who do not yet have enough sophistication to download pirated music from Chinese servers). Thankfully, Hanson was short-lived, as were The New Kids on the Block. These "emo lite" millionaires will be faded soon, too.
What can I say BAD about this?
The Jonas Brothers are my favorite band and this CD is awesome! There were only 3 songs that weren't great, but none were terrible.

Theze jonus bros. is comin with won of da hardest albums evah son! Dey beats is fresh and dey lyrics is straight pimpin. Dem jonus boys makin' headz crack on da track when dey get wit it. I play dis album fo my homie yung p and he was like "man- dem jonusses is fo real." I was like "yuhhhhhhhh!!" We wuz on that level afta listenin to dem jonuzzes.
