Album Description
Guitarist Robin Trower's watershed sophomore solo disc remains his most stunning, representative, and consistent collection of tunes. This 24-bit digitally remastered 25th anniversary reissue, which tacks on five live tracks adding nearly 25 minutes to the original playing time, actually improves upon the original. Mixing obvious Hendrix influences with blues and psychedelia, then adding the immensely soulful vocals of James Dewer, Robin Trower pushed the often limited boundaries of the power trio concept into refreshing new waters. The concept gels best in the first track, "Day of the Eagle," where the opening riff rocking morphs into the dreamy washes of gooey guitar chords that characterize the album's distinctive title track that follows.

Trower's Classic Gets Remastered Again And Adds Different Bonus Tracks!
Released in 1974 the ex-Procol Harum guitarst's solo career was definately heading in the right direction. With "Bridge Of Sighs" his second studio album Trower shows his fretboard abilities more than ever. His Hendrix inspired guitar solos are awe dropping as can be heard on such standout cuts as "Day Of The Eagle", "The Fool And Me", "Lady Love", "Too Rolling Stoned" and "Little Bit Of Sympathy". The eight added bonus tracks from The BBC Sessions which include "Bridge Of Sighs", "In This Place", "Alethea", "Little Bit Of Sympathy" sound very good and add almost thirty four minutes to this gem of a cd. Soundwise, it isn't that much of a drastic improvement from the older 1999 remaster (which also included bonus tracks) but it's miles ahead of the 1990 non-remastered version. If there's one Trower cd you buy, this should be it! A must have for any classic rock lover.

Once again something different for the fans
The newly released Bridge Of Sighs includes eight live tracks from the BBC Radio shows. These are versions of songs from the period and let you hear once again how great a singer Jimmy Dewar was. A fine guitar driven album that does a good job of showcasing Trower's obvious talents, Bridge of Sighs offers a little of everything, from atmospheric blues ("Bridge of Sighs"; "In this Place"), to a more barroom style of rockin' blues ("The Fool and Me"), to a more funk infused blues ("Too Rolling Stoned," which at points echoes Jimi Hendrix).

There really isn't a weak track on this album. It's beautiful from front to back, and Trower does a great job of making bluesy music that is anything by ordinary.
