One of the best song's i've heard5
When this song first was released, but not yet in stores, i used to turn on the radio for hours just for the slim chance this song might come on. Pure Santana genius with Kroegers contrasting yet complimenting voice blends this song onto my top ten.
Amazing song, a must buy.

CD is good5
I bought this cd for my fiance and he loved it. It only has a few songs on it, but the one he wanted is with the guy from Nickelback so it was well worth it.

When the Latin rock god met the Canadian bacon....1
"Into the night" was the Carlos Santana/Chad Kroeger collaboration that was originally in the vault. It should've stayed there. Nickelback's Chad Kroeger is no match for the Latin rock god, Carlos Santana. Santana was inspired to take up the guitar when he overheard Jerry Garcia playing at the Fillmore in San Francisco. He performed with '60s acid rock greats such as the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. He dabbled in Hindu spirituality for a time, taking on the name "Devadip" and collaborating with the Mahavishnu Orchestra to do covers of John Coltrane in "Love Surrender Devotion." Carlos Santana is a legend; fortunately, Kroeger is not.

"Into the night" is an astounding mismatch between the two. Santana is left on the sidelines, occasionally playing electrifying riffs. In the meantime, Nickelback's hack front man sings a hammy, cliched song about finding salvation with a beautiful woman on the dancefloor. There are the cliches of "she was an angel who could drive the Devil out of me",and so on. Quite bland&unadventurous compared to Santana's glory days.

"Into the Night" would be superior as a Santana instrumental without Kroeger's trademark "macho growling." Unfortunately,it's yet another of Santana's "celebrity duets" with "hot new talents" to make him interesting to young people. "Into the Night" is a bland,by-the-numbers song about salvation with an angelic woman;listen to "Black Magic Woman" instead!
