The best, original Scooby-Doo animated movie seen for some years, Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King is genuinely imaginative, fun, and full of surprises--particularly in its vocal casting. Besides the usual group--Casey Kasem still going strong as the voice of Shaggy (since 1969), Frank Welker as both Scooby-Doo and Mystery Inc.'s leader, Fred, Mindy Cohn as Velma and Grey DeLisle as Daphne--Goblin King features Wallace Shawn, Lauren Bacall, Tim Curry and Wayne Knight in substantial roles. The lively story finds the Mystery Inc. gang enjoying a Halloween night at a carnival, where a hack magician (Knight) steals the power of a fairy on unauthorized leave from the spirit world. Faced with a threat to Fred, Velma, and Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby enter that parallel dimension overrun by elves, headless horsemen, witches, a talking pumpkin, etc. Their mission is to get to the Goblin King (Curry), who can stop the magician’s feverish quest for more and more power. The story is endlessly colorful and sharp, more of a fable than the average Scooby-Doo cartoon as Shaggy and Scooby, unlikely heroes, wander through a wonderland of ghouls for an answer. --Tom Keogh

Best animated Scooby Doo movie5
First Review by Kayla and JJ (ages 6 and 7):
We really loved this movie. We have seen a lot of the Scooby Doo movies and all of the cartoons, and we think this was the best animated Scooby Doo movie so far. We give this movie 5 stars.
This movie is a little scarier than most other Scooby Doo movies, so kids under 6 years old might be afraid.
The movie had a lot of action and a good story. While the rest of the gang was not in as much of the movie, they did appear in the movie, so it wasn't just Scooby Doo and Shaggy like some other movies. We like to see the entire gang in the movies and cartoons.

Thank you for reading our first review.

Another great Scooby movie4
My three year old is obsessed with Scooby Doo. He has been since he was about a year old. We have just about every movie we could find, and the TV series on DVD. He particularly loves this movie, especially since it has a Halloween theme, which is another obsession of his.

There are so many big names attached to this one, and the story is really cute. The only thing that knocks off a star is that Fred, Velma, and Daphne are hardly in it. We like to see the whole Scooby gang together, but this one only has them in it for the first and last few minutes.

Good but its mostly Scooby and Shaggy3
I'm a HUGE Scooby fan, have every DVD and many collectibles. I liked the movie but unfortunately Fred, Daphne and Velma weren't in it much. I like it when the entire gang has equal time in the film. Don't get me wrong, it was good and worth getting but I much more like the whole gang rather than focusing on Scooby and Shaggy.
