![]() | Cities by Anberlin
Buy new: $11.97 / Used from: $6.09 This has to be, by far, my favorite album of the year. It is a masterpiece and surpasses anything seen by this band before but remains true to what was expected from them.

![]() | The Shade of Poison Trees by Dashboard Confessional
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $4.25 It's not the nostalgia, but the fact that this is actually a solid album. Chris is in his element when he picks up his acoustic guitar.

![]() | Smile for Them by Armor for Sleep
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $0.42 A rather recent release, but an amazing one nonetheless. If there is one thing Armor for Sleep does it's write catchy tunes, but the lyrical content of their work is above the bar set by their contemporaries.
|
![]() | Chase This Light by Jimmy Eat World
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $2.99 It's hard to judge an album like this on its merit alone, being the follow up of such classic albums as Clarity and Bleed American. The truth is, if it weren't Jimmy Eat World, this would still be an album I'll be listening to years from now.

![]() | No Really, I'm Fine by The Spill Canvas
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $2.11 Nick Thomas and crew know how to make a good rock album. It amazes me that I have yet to hear a single naysayer when it comes to The Spill Canvas. Perhaps the general listeners know that there's nothing to critize?

![]() | Seattle Sessions by Classic Crime
Buy new: $7.97 / Used from: $4.54 Okay, so it's only a seven song EP done entirely acoustic, which is kind of deceptive to put it in a list like this; but I cannot stop listening to this. It's been on repeat for days now and I can't see that stopping. It's so brooding and melancholic.
|
![]() | Scream & Light Up the Sky by The Honorary Title
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $1.94 The follow-up to thier other masterpiece, this album goes above and beyond what a good indie-pop album should be. Listening to "Far More" says more than I ever could.
|
![]() | Combinations by Eisley
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $1.86 "Beautiful"--that seems to be the only word to describe Eisley's atmospheric pop-rock. I love this band, and I'm not ashamed of that. It also makes me a very baised opinion.
|
![]() | Singularity by Mae
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.72 Do I think it's the best Mae album to date? No. I think The Everlgow is, and probably will stand as their Something To Write Home About. Still, Singularity is a solid release and just as charming as Destination: Beautiful, even if it did fall a bit short of my expectations.
|
![]() | Even If It Kills Me by Motion City Soundtrack
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $3.28 MCS write the best lyrics in pop-punk, yesterday, today, and forever. Okay, that may be a bit of a sweeping generalization, but they're up there pretty high. They just make you feel good when you listen to them. Even their songs like "Last Night" and "The Conversation," which are both altogether sad songs, seem to leave a glow about them.
|
![]() | Everything Starts Where It Ends by Lovedrug
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $1.92 This was an earlier release this year, and I was not expecting to be impressed. And then I heard it and was blown away. Ranks as one of my favorite albums of all time.
|
![]() | No World For Tomorrow by Coheed and Cambria
Buy used from: $2.51 I questioned myself about putting this on here because I have been known to say with complete seriousness: "Coheed & Cambria is the greatest rock band of all time." They seem to floor me everytime I listen to them. And this album did not change that.
|
![]() | Welcome the Night by The Ataris
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $0.01 I realize that this album was not well received. I was an exception to that. I've been a huge fan of The Ataris since Blue Skies, but this album came to me at the perfect time in my life and it seems almost every song was written from a perspective I understood fully. And the music was perfect match to the mood the whole way through, even if it does seem a bit distorted in some tracks.
|
![]() | At the Foot of My Rival by The New Amsterdams
Buy used from: $2.00 Maybe I haven't been looking very hard, but it seems like a good indie-rock album is hard to find these days. I was not too concerned about a new New Amsterdams album either, but this is the best release they've had since Worse for the Wear.
|
![]() | In Defense of the Genre by Say Anything
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.92 This double album encompasses everything wonderful about the genre. I'm just not sure what genre it is. Pop-punk? Emo? Rock? Does it really matter? Say Anything is brilliant, in a disturbing self-absorbed, sexual way.
