It was interesting to read about two young people right before the advent of Beatlemania in England.
For me, the book was as much about England than about sex (or the lack thereof).

In addition, it was important to show the positive role of teachers in both Natasha and Antonio's lives. The educational system often fails the Natashas and Antonios but individual teachers can still make a difference within a dysfunctional system.

Buy used from: $0.01 I loved the author's second novel (Some Girls) but for a change decided to re-read her first book instead. Years before, I had considered this novel inferior to Some Girls. This time I was really engrossed by the story. The protagonist Ellie is similar to Some Girls' Claire except that Ellie's obsession is a man, not a woman. (Finished 12/26/07)
