Why buy the 2nd Best?
I agree, SCRIPT is the better buy. Creative Screenwriting (CS) paints every review/interview with the same glowing brush (no matter how bad the film is) whereas SCRIPT really does offer an insider view into the process. Script also offers Television section in each of its issues where CS only provides the occasional sub-feature. And as a CS subscriber I can tell you that the magazine always arrives late to my door - sometimes up to two weeks after it can be found on the shelves.
Covers so much of nothing
I subscribed to this magazine for quite a few years before deciding that much of its content was, well, weak. I began to compare this with other similar magazines like, SCRIPT. I think that if you are a writer in LA or outside the system, SCRIPT is a better buy. Creative Screenwriting tries to break down a scene and attempts to cover big budget movies and analysis but just falls flat. I recommend they re-tool the writing staff and also bring back some of the core talent that made the magazine a few years ago. If you are going to spend your hard earned cash, spend it on, SCRIPT.
Script Mag or Nothing
If you are serious about screenwriting, read... eat... sleep... and digest Script Magazine. Don't waste you money and time with Creative Screenwriting. CS could be so much better, and why they don't... who knows??
