About the Author
Dr. Rebecca Keller has a PhD in biophysical chemistry and worked in a research lab for several years. She is also a mom and originally developed this program for her children, hoping they would come to enjoy science as much as she does. Dr. Keller has written the Real Science-4-Kids series to help students begin building a foundation in the elementary and middle school grades for the kind of science they will actually encounter in high school and college-level classes.

Customer Reviews

Real Science for kids are excellent educational materials5
Real science 4-kids teach advanced concepts in a fun easy way. I am using the books and workbooks in my homeschool, and my children love them. My four year old is constantly talking about atoms and molecules, and he grasps the concept. I highly recommend the product, not only to homeschooles, but also as a supplement for children who attend school.

Great books but publisher shipping is TOO high5
We love these books! Our 8y.o. son eats them up! From the moment we got our 1st set, he didn't want to put it down.
My only complaint is not actually with the books themselves, but with ordering directly from the publisher. Their shipping is almost half the cost of the textbook!
Order from Amazon, a school conference or somewhere else if you can.
I will NOT be ordering any new books from the publisher until the change their bad shipping practices. SHAME!

Missing evolution4
The diagrams are great the text well suited to the age group but for a book on biology which touches on the diversity of life but does not discuss one of the most well established theories of all time, evolution via natural selection, is flawed and that is why I can't give the book 5 out of 5.

On the publishers web site, they say that they see evolution, creationism and intelligent design as equal interpretive viewpoints. Which is rather mind blowing given that evolution is a scientific theory supported by substantial amount of evidence and fact. Where as creationism and intelligent design are just religious views points posing as science.

A little more digging showed that Dr Keller is one of the scientists that the Discovery Institute lists as not believing in Darwinian Evolution (http://www.discovery.org/articleFiles/PDFs/100ScientistsAd.pdf). It's rather sad that what otherwise would be a great science series is undermined by religious beliefs.

So prospective buyers of any of the books in the series should keep this in mind. That sections of the biology books will be lacking in coverage of a number of topics, as will the chemistry books in sections dealing with DNA.

I've not yet read the physics book so I don't know if Dr Keller is a young Earther or feels that the speed of light is variable as do a number of ID and creationist supporters.
