Product Description

e Hidden Power, written by Thomas Troward, is an important and key essay from the New Thought movement of the early 20th century. In The Hidden Power, Troward's hypothesis is that to realise fully how much of our present daily life consists in symbols is to find the answer to the old, old question, What is Truth? He seeks to teach readers that there is an inner and outer side to everything; and the quality of the superficial mind which causes it to fail in the attainment of Truth is its willingness to rest content with the outside only. This is an excellent book for those who are interested in key writings from the New Thought movement and also those who are fans of the works by Thomas Troward.

My Favorite5
The works of Thomas Troward are among those that I cherish. Sometimes I actually pick up his books and hold them close to my heart....but this one - "The Hidden Power" is my favorite.

Written in essay form, he addresses a number of topics briefly with wisdom and clarity. As a Judge, Thomas Troward had the responsibility of looking at all sides before reaching a decision. These essays also reflect careful contemplation and consideration.

If you are interested in "old" opinions of "New Thought," this book is a wonderful introduction to an amazing teacher who left a legacy of inspiration and understanding through his writing. I highly recommend this book. I have read it, re-read it, highlighted and marked it and given away copies to others. It's a treasure!

There is much more to man5
Thomas Troward's writings are very challenging and thought provoking. Some of the things he says have been said by others, but the way in which he says them is totally unique. In speaking of the Universal Spirit, he states in the chapter on "Completeness" that "it is this part of our "self" that we so often leave out". He further says that "we have only to draw on that part of ourselves which is infinite to carry out any intention we may form in our individual consciousness". All of his books are worth reading and are quite enlightening. I was particularly impressed with the underlying devoutness of Troward in his references to the scriptures and to God and Christ. He does not throw away the sacred and true inorder to present the new, he trys to show that in many ways they are not only similar to new thought but in some cases the foundation upon which so much of the new is grounded. In his section on "Fragments" there is a reference to Father, Son,and Spirit, and the words of Jesus saying "I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly" His point being we all are striving for a greater realization of life and a higher sense of it.
