The Best Bond Collection Ever
This is by far the best collection of James Bond film songs ever assembled. I really liked THUNDERBALL - vocal by Tom Jones because it is a real powerhouse and is pure Bond through and through. You Know My Name by Chris Cornell from CASINO ROYALE sounds terrific. The DVD has some great videos especially by a-ha performing THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. What a great video and song. You can't go wrong with this 007 collection. The only weak cut is David Arnold's bonus track of the James Bond theme. Moby did a better job!
Good to have "You Know My Name" on a real Bond album
It was good to see Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" from CASINO ROYALE finally show up on an official James Bond CD album of the soundtrack themes and songs. However, that's was about all I really liked here. Missing is the GoldenEye trailer music that was on the last compilation of official James Bond soundtrack themes on CD. David Arnold's bonus track of the James Bond Theme is somewhat a huge disappointment. It is totally unmoving and truly lackluster. The DVD selections are okay but the visuals could have been digitally restored much better. The A VIEW TO A KILL video looked rather faded. There was a short documentary on the music of James Bond but you can find this on one of the James Bond movie DVDs. I do not remember exactly which one, but this documentary video had been previously released. If you like to have all the theme music from DR NO through CASINO ROYALE for the first time this is a good CD to get. However, you you have been around a while you get the picture. Well, that's just my opinion.
summary Sound track
technically, this is an up to date (till Casino Royale, 2006) of the '30 years Anniversary Collection. me being a hardcore 007 fan, have all the original Sound track albums till date, and converted to my Ipod is the actual theme songs collection, which in theory, is the same as this one.
over the years, the theme songs have had various qualities, but have lately been on decline, the 'die another day' by Madonna being the worst i have observed, this particular track, rock bottom. no offence intended (i used to like Madonna's songs, back in the days...). this is just my personal opinion, when matched up to the Conery era tracks all the way up till The world is not enough.
but to sum it up, a 'must have' for any 007 fan.
