| These are all great units, but some have more features and therefore cost more than the others. -- Some important features for a good hiking GPS -- Color: To clearly see topographic detail, you really should have a color display. Memory: Expandable memory allows you to download more maps to your unit. Make sure your unit has a slot for memory cards unless you are buying a unit with every map you will ever need. Digital Compass: All of my recommended units have a built-in compass. The compass is important for hiking, as it allows you to see your bearing even when you are not moving. Maps: Some units come with all the maps you will ever need, some only come with basic maps, forcing you to purchase maps separately. Make sure you consider this when pricing units. Prices will not display on units that are priced below the manufacturer recommended price. You have to add them to your cart to see the price (you can always remove them later) | ||
