![]() | The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 1910 by Alan Moore
Buy new: $9.91 / Used from: $8.00 Overall I'm not a fan of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but certain panels from this book are permanently burned into my brain. Most of the book is written as a creepy pirate ballad, with a particularly memorable scene concluding: "Kill 'em slow." Awesome.

![]() | Lucifer Vol. 1: Devil in the Gateway by Mike Carey
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $6.00 It's a lot easier to think of Lucifer as some grumpy bum with a pitchfork than it is to think of him as a charismatic and intelligent manipulator. One is easy to ignore - the other might fool you. Mike Carey will freak you out.

Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $4.00 this book endeared itself to me when Bechdel explored the complexities of feeling the urge to laugh at a funeral - without it sounding trite. Of all the nonfiction comics to emerge in the past five years, this is the best.
