From the Manufacturer
The Sesame Street harness helps to keep your child close. This lets you hold on tight to the ones you love. It features the character Elmo who helps keep your child within reach with our Sesame Street plush harness. This harness features Elmo on the front to hug and cuddle, with a pocket to hold a favorite toy. It also allows you to attach the hand strap to the harness or the wrist. This works either way, your child will be close at hand and you’ll have complete peace of mind when you’re in a crowd.
Customer Reviews
Wonderful safety harness!
Elmo is very soft, cuddly for the child. My daughter treats him more like a baby than sees him as a harness. The harness itself is very durable, easy to put on, and the straps are large enough that it doesn't rub uncomfortably against their shoulders or back. The middle strap has velcro, but is such a thick piece of velcro that I can't see anyone pulling it off easily.
The pocket has a zipper, which is a negative, velcro would have been MUCH better. Also, the inside cloth lining sort of comes inside out (Elmo is very plush) which can get caught in the zipper. The pocket is SO small that I can't see putting anything in it (anything you could fit in it would probably be a choking hazard to your child, so why you would put it in there anyway I have no clue. Maybe a pacifier for those who are still hooked to their pacifiers, or pennies for older toddlers...)
Otherwise it's a GREAT safety harness. Unlike the ones that have the toy or bag on the back of the child (where they can't play with it, look at it, or cuddle it) this one has Elmo in front where she can give him kisses on the head, and show him off to people.
bad design limits usefulness
He's so cute and as the previous poster said its a good idea to have the toy in front where my child can play with it, and they are right about the bad designs for the pocket (I put my business card in there, in case he gets lost) BUT the straps pull right out of the buckles, you can fix that by looping the strap over the buckle. The other nice thing about having the toy in front is that I could put him in the stroller or car seat with the harness on, then when he wants to jump out and run he'd be set to go... BUT they put the big HOOK on the back of the harness, the loop is on the lead! I can't see any way to swap the connectors and it surely would be uncomfortable digging into his back while he's seated. We're taking a 2 hour car trip tomorrow and visiting lots of friends. Each time I am going to have to remove and replace the harness. What a pointless pain for both of us! Sesame street should know better on all these obvious design faults. The Eddie Bauer Monkey has the hook on the lead and the loop on the harness, the straps lock well, the pocket is larger and no zipper, and it's totally adorable. But- the Eddie Bauer toy is on the back so the child can't play with it or reach the pocket, and the car seat or stroller wearing is out of the question. This just frustrating!
Good harness for active toddlers
Bought for my baby as he was growing and walking way too fast for his old Mama...he liked the few times he wore it because he loved Elmo and it is comfortable I guess. But very soon he would see it coming and put up a fuss. So now we use it sparingly only when we go downtown or in crowds..so rarely..but worth the effort to buy and the price if there is a need for it.
