Customer Reviews

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!1
Chippewa Boots, A Berkshire Hathaway Company owned by Warren Buffet. I guess he is to busy to check from time to time the quality control of the Chippewa Boot factory.

I received one pair and a replacement pair in one week that were both defective. The first pair, one boot was shorter than the other by 1", and the padded foot bed inserts were missing. The second pair there was a fold in the leather on the top of the boot, and again no padded foot bed.

I talked to customer service at Chippewa and they had indicated that people (Nobody specific), take out and steal the foot beds, and that they have produced boots frequently that are either shorter or longer than the other. These boots are made in America!!!

The Chippewa customer service rep indicated that there is nothing they can do, and to return them to Amazon, Nice! If you are going to spend $180.00 for a pair of boots, look at another brand! They are just not worth the money or aggravation

Super quality, but a cautionary tale about sizing!4
These boots are serious business. Buckles are heavy, leather is thick as all get-out (but soft), Vibram sole is the bomb, etc., etc.
Thing is, I ordered my normal boot size (a 7 in most unlined boots, IE Clarks, Red Wing, etc.) and I couldn't even get my foot into the footbed.
This is a huge bummer, because it seems like the footbed would be just right for my foot.
I don't write reviews often, so I'm not sure if I can, but I'd love to update this review after I receive my new order with sizes 7.5 and 8.
Figure if my boot size doesn't fit, maybe my sneaker size will.
Overall, if you're sure of your size in Chippewas and are considering this boot, then go for it. I can't foresee you being disappointed with the workmanship.
EDIT: So I tried on the 8s and 7.5s. My feet got into both of them with limited struggling, with the 7.5s feeling much better.
I still have some room for wool socks, so I guess thats a plus, but I can't help but feel that the 7s would've been a better fit.
Maybe sometime down the road I'll unload the 7.5s and go for 7s again, in hopes that the opening will be a smidge wider, or the leather will be a bit softer, or the instep will be a bit roomier, etc. etc.
However, now that I've got a pair on my feet, I can definitely verify the radness. Much happier with them now.

A Great Pair of Engineer Boots5
I have owned over four pairs of engineer boots and I would have to say that these boots and the Frye brand fit the best. The other brands felt big and needed either a shoe insert or a heavy sock to get a more comfortable fit. And even then they didn't provide the snug fit I was looking for. These boots fit true to size. If you order a pair, order your normal size. The construction on these boots is well done. I could not find any blemishes with either boot. The leather is top grade and soft, not hard leaving little break in time. The buckles appear to be stronger than the buckles on my Frye boots, where I had one of the lower buckles break in half on me. Although I will say that Frye did send me replacement buckles quickly. You come to expect it though when you pay $200.00 for a pair of boots like the Frye brand. The heel on these boots is layered leather and "not" plastic. I guess Chippewa listened to it's customers when they complained about the heel being made of plastic. Overall I have to say these boots look and feel great. They have a nice comfortable feel. I woulod have to say that the price is a little steep compared to some other brands of engineer boots, but you get what you paid for.
