Customer Reviews
Stealth Walker
A black show with non-flashy lines, the MW811 doubles as a casual work shoe: No need to bring two pairs of shoes to work on walking days! While I prefer the features of the 843, this model has that dual function, and doesn't cost as much either. It has a removable orthotic "footbed," so that you can put in your own customized orthotics. I have fairly narrow feet, and the D was a little wide; however, the B with the orthotic doesn;t leave enough room. (If it doesn't break in right, I'll sometimes add some adhesive shoe strips to the tongue or heel. I know, TMI.) Since New Balance shoes have worked for me in the past (maybe 15-20 years?), I like to go with this brand: They've worked well for me in the past, they're durable, and, while not the look can get a little boring at times, they're not trendy either.
Features.
>"Vegetarian." No leather materials used in construction.
>Designed especially for walking, it has a Graphite Rollbar® with TPU & lateral post for rearfoot stability.
>Single Density Polyurethane midsole/outsole for lightweight cushioning that resists compression.
>TPU Walking Strike Path Outsole stabilizes the foot through the walking gait cycle.
>It's not light like a running shoe, but it has a comfortable weight: 14.1 oz.
Along with these techie features, the best thing about these shoes is their easy transition from the office hallway to the outdoors. Newbalance.com explains their shoe terminology, and offers some product comparison.
Perfect fit
My husband tried these on at New Balance store. Their price almost half again as Amazon price. Great fit. Comfortable. I own the ladies version. Love them too.
Holds up over the long haul!
I work as a pharmacist for Wal-Mart. I stand for as long as 11 hours during certain shifts. The New Balance 811 is one of 3 New Balance shoes in my "foot arsenal". Together with graduated compression knee-high socks, these shoes really make a dramatic improvement in my standing endurance. My legs are much less tired at the end of a shift. I wore a pair of traditional leather shoes to work and had to go home during my lunch break to change into my 811's! I have so much less stiffness and fatigue at the end of my shift. I have been a fan of New Balance for over 10 years now.
