About the Brand
Kelly Flatley and Brendan Synnott, who became friends at age 11 while attending Middlesex Middle School in Darien, CT, are the business partners behind Bear Naked all-natural breakfast foods. Kelly first developed Bear Naked’s original fruit-and-nut granola formula in July 2002 by baking whole ingredients in her parents’ kitchen and tweaking the recipe until it was perfect. She then labeled the concoction "Bear Naked" and started selling it at sidewalk sales and a couple of local markets. Her granola was plainly packaged in a clear plastic bag and hand-tied with a piece of hay. A month later, Brendan, on hiatus from his role as a talent manager for Saturday Night Live, started joining Kelly in the kitchen, the two cooking all through the night and selling their granola by day. In October 2002, Brendan and Kelly decided to move forward as business partners and Bear Naked was born. Over the next few months, the company really began to grow, and by the end of 2004, Bear Naked was distributing its products to more than 2,000 retailers in 25 states with 20 full-time employees. By August 2005, Bear Naked was the country's fastest-growing natural cereal brand, with the number one and number two selling granola products in the nation. The next month, Kelly, Brendan, and the entire Bear Naked team traveled to Washington, D.C., in their signature Bear Naked vans to launch a new line of breakfast products to retailers at the Natural Products Expo East. With an eye-catching display and abounding energy, the new Low-Sugar Cereals, All-Natural Oatmeal, and 100% Organic Hot Cereals debuted to rave reviews. Today, Bear Naked breakfast products can be found at retailers nationwide.
And why the name "Bear Naked"? It simply reflects that the company's ingredients are all-natural and barely processed. In their words: "With our love for the outdoors and active lifestyles, our whole grain foods fuel our energy. When hiking we were thinking of names and thought 'hungry as a bear.' Thus "Bear Naked" was coined. Plus, it is very catchy."

Healthy Snack...But... 'Peak Protein' Flavor Is Nothin To Write Home About
"Bear Naked - Peak Protein Granola Snack"
Whew..I'm so glad I bought this at the market to try out before I ordered 12, count em 12 bags of this snack. I purchased the larger 12 0z. size for cereal, and it took me a long time to get through it. I have tried two of the other flavors(Cinnamon Apple/Banana Nut), that I really thought were delicious and chewy, and could also be used as toppers for yogurt. This one didn't taste bad, it was just bland and boring. Nothin to write home about. It was also not chewy like the chunks in the others.
Health wise; It's a good healthy, energizing snack or breakfast. The power of protein combined with other the healthful and nutritious ingredients:
Whole Grain Oats, Toasted Soy Flakes, Honey, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Cranberries (Cranberries, Sugar), Soy Protein Isolate, Sunflower Seeds, Crisp Rice (Rice and Barley Malt), Whole Grain Flax Meal, Cinnamon, Natural Flavor. It's low in fat and sugar, and has no cholesterol. It has 5 grms. of protein per serving. And "Bear Naked" says the company's ingredients are all-natural and barely processed. .
Maybe you could even doctor it with some fresh fruit for a little added flavor to your cereal. But I couldn't recommend to buy 12 bags of it. Too bad they don't have a multi-pack in either the 12 oz. bags, or the 2 0z snack bags, so that you can sample each flavor for yourself. Like the other flavors, after you get through the chunk parts, you are left with crumb size bits, but won't go to waste if you sprinkle on yogurt.
Other pluses for the product are that they come in ziploc bags, are a good price compared to the grocery store, and are convenient to throw in your briefcase or gym bag. I would though, recommend, one of the other flavors that are really good.
Remember to breathe, eat healthy and...enjoy...Laurie
nasty flat flavor, contains very un-natural soy protein isolate
I tried some of this, it is BAD. not enough fruit, very flat flavor. Plus it contains highly processed soy protein isolate which has been linked to cancers (all the studies showing a soy/cancer link involve people who eat a lot of this highly processed food product, rather than natural soy). Seriously NOT "all-natural".
A Little Dry
I have used the other Bear Naked products and like them, but this particular one is dry, not much taste. The size of the pouches is convenient. It's ok for a quick hunger fix on the run.
