Customer Reviews

Great item, but will it last?4
I bought this to replace my old "The Crusher" (also sold here), which gave up the ghost after 12 years. I wasn't entirely satisfied with The Crusher for several reasons, so decided to try another brand. Before describing the Easy Pull, let me mention the problems with The Crusher. First, it would occasionally spit out a partially crushed can - more so as it got older. Second, I felt the cans could be crushed a bit flatter. Third, although the construction was sturdy, the main pivot was made of sheet metal and it simply wore through over time (with a better pivot, it would probably last forever).

Moving on to the Easy Pull. I bought it because several reviewers here recommended it. It installed easily on my wall in the garage with two nice, long bolts. A note on installation. Because you will be applying some force, it needs to be mounted solidly - easiest is to find a wall stud. Second, be sure it is at a convenient height for operation. Third, find a location where it is convenient to place a sack or other receptacle under the unit to collect crushed cans.

The design of the Easy Pull is clever. Through a combination of levers, the can tilts forward as it is crushed. When the handle is then lifted up, the can drops out. The unit operates easily and smoothly, and the cans are crushed a little flatter than my old The Crusher. If you have a lot of cans to crush, you can go very fast, up to 15 - 20 cans per minute.

I'm impressed with the design and happy with the Easy Pull. My only concern is durability, as it is made mostly of plastic. It has a 30 day warranty, but will it still work 5 years from now? I am so impressed with the design that I would be happy to pay 10 or 15 dollars more for a "heavy duty" version.

Overall, I recommend the Easy Pull because it works so well, but with the understanding that I am not sure how long it will last.

July 13, 2008 UPDATE: Well, here we are eight months later and the crusher is still working fine, crushing 3 to 6 cans per day. My concerns about durability have been laid to rest.

August 24, 2009 UPDATE. Some bad news and some good news to report. First the bad news. After two years of service, my Easy Pull developed problems. The guide rods that go through the top crushing block began to bind. This was because the holes in the top block began to wear and the block didn't slide straight down the rods any more. The unit became unusable. I posted that information here. Now the good news. After posting a comment here, the Easy Pull folks called me to apologize for the problem. The head of the company indicated that failures such as my unit developed are rare indeed. The top block was modified about two years ago to address the binding issue and most likely my unit was one of the older versions. He noted the Easy Pull has been tested extensively and that it should give many years of service. They sent me a replacement unit, and I am once again happy. I will add that the collection bin, which slides onto the bottom of the unit, is a nice feature. Also, folks should be aware of the maintenance notice on the side of the crusher that says you should apply a dab of lubricant (e.g., petroleum jelly) occasionally.

I am very impressed that the company reached out to me. Never had that happen before. The upper block modification he described to me sounds reasonable and like it should work. I was also impressed that they seem earnest about making a quality product. I'm back to merrily crushing cans and will update this review as time goes by.

High quality crusher5
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3FK4A9TWH48D4 This crusher keeps going and going and going! It is made of a very strong plastic, and unlike metal crushers, the pivot point on this contraption is rock solid. I've had it for almost two months now. It's easy to install, quick and fun to use, and it crushes standard size cans down to a fraction of the size. It's great. Instead of buying the collection can, I place a big plastic tote underneath the crusher - the cans automatically discharge into it.

For a moderate workout, collect a good amount of cans and then bring them to the crusher and start crushing away! It's a fun, rhythmic process that leaves you with a sense of accomplishment after you're done.

Finally - One that works!5
I have spent a great deal of time researching can crushers in the hopes of finding one that really works and is worth what you pay for it. Our previous purchase lasted all of about a month and fell apart. The Easy Pull Can Crusher was purchased about six months ago and has not given us a bit of trouble. If it quit working tomorrow, I would definitely purchase another one pronto! I highly recommend this product. Just make sure you anchor it into the wall solidly. I screwed a small sheet of plywood into the wall studs in our storage room and then anchored the can crusher to the plywood. Works great!
