An interesting DVD that has quite a bit of raw (silent and unedited) film of the battle of Attu, although much of the best film is contained in the documentary "RED WHITE BLACK & BLUE" (also on my list) so you might want to buy that for a little more money. Still, this is another must-have for those interested in the battle.

Although it has a few factual errors, Brian Garfield's book is regarded as the most comprehensive look at this important and little-known theater of the war. It reads like a novel, with an amazing number of first-person accounts from virtually every part of this corner of the war.

The Capture of Attu is almost entirely first-person accounts of soldiers who fought in the battle, and their harrowing stories of combat and survival. The book is a great companion to the documentary film RED WHITE BLACK & BLUE (also on this list) as they cover much of the same action, and in the film you can see the actual locations the soldiers write about in their stories.

A beautiful book filled with a treasure trove of photos from the war in the Aleutians. It was clearly printed some time ago and the photos are not always the highest quality, but the large size of the book makes up for that.
