From the Back Cover
Everything you need to enhance worship from and for the emerging church If the church is to remain faithful and relevant in the third millennium it must be in tune with alternative worship, a refreshing blend of first-century faith with twenty-first century technology and language. With one hand in the past and one in the future, Alternative Worship delivers an original collection of resources for receptive churches in the mainstream or those on the progressive edge. Arranged around major festivals of the church year-Advent and Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost-its unique liturgies and prayers, innovative yet meaningful rituals, and informative and challenging views of the alternative worship scene make this book the most comprehensive postmodern worship resource available. The accompanying interactive CD-ROM offers easy access to ambient sounds, stimulating visuals, and modern music to enrich your alternative worship experience. "As Alternative Worship's postmodern liturgies express so lucidly, worship celebrates the Unparalleled Who of the Grand Story. We can affirm to God and to each other who we really are: a wildly gifted and profoundly flawed people in the marvelous, mystical process of redemption. Thank you, Jonny Baker, Jenny Brown, and Doug Gay, for sounding this divine call and sounding it faithfully. May we too respond in faithfulness." -Sally Morgenthaler, founder, Sacramentis.com

A wonderful book of worship ideas for any tradition
The book is amazing. It takes a part worship components from several worship gatherings and spaces in England and puts them into book form to inspire, teach, and to be used in your own context. The book has a lot of theological and creative richness in it and is a book that you will probably return to again and again for ideas and help in your own worship setting. I have seen parts of it used in traditional parishes and in brand new alternative worship spaces as well as seeker services. You may not use all of it but you will appreciate the time and effort put into all of it.
The CD that comes with it is okay but the inability to cut and paste from it is a minor irritation.
Good Work
I find a lot of resources in this book to prepare a good emerging service, ideas, images, words, etc. Very useful and interesting. Every pastor shoud have this book as a resource in his office.

I LOVE IT! It's more seasonal service oriented than I need, but this is a great resource for new emerging gatherings like ours.
