Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Silverthought: Ignition is a collection of some of the finest short fiction featured on silverthought.com, a literary web site for writers and enthusiasts of speculative fiction founded in 2001.

Silverthought.com has since developed into a thriving online community. In early 2005, I announced the formation of Silverthought Press, the offline publishing component of silverthought.com. I am proud to present to you Ignition, the first book released by our small press.

The stories collected here represent some of the best work from our site. Selecting these pieces was no easy task, but after a lengthy nomination process and a thorough read of over one hundred twenty submissions, I chose to include these twenty-one shorts in this anthology.

These selections span the full spectrum of the sf genre, but there are certain universal underlying themes. This is a dark collection, a funny collection, a series of stories that challenges as much as it entertains. Ignition asks critical questions about who we are and where we’re going.

Customer Reviews

A fascinating collection everyone interested in speculative fiction needs to read.5
The consistent quality of the stories contained in this volume is astounding. During the experience of reading this book, and I mean experience, I was carried to strange lands, involved with the bizarrest circumnstances and continually jolted from my typical perceptions of reality.I urge anyone who has an interest in speculative fiction to seek this book out and read it. You will not, I can assure you, be dissapointed.

One Speculative Fiction Anthology to be reckoned with5
When I purchased my copy of this anthology, not only was I honored to have one of my stories chosen for it, but with critically acclaimed PRO authors in the field of speculative fiction, this book truly goes beyond the norm and breaks the mold. This hardcover is SOOOO big. And by critically-acclaimed authors, I mean names like Paul Evan Hughes (Broken), Carl Rafala (Wildflower), Oscar Deadwood; the list goes on. The design and layout is like nothing I have ever seen before, the editing superior and very professional. Excluding myself, I must say these truly are the science fiction, spec-fic, horror writers of tomorrow. There are stories about zombies after the wake of a fictional form of Hurricane Katrina, Giant Roaches, Death Robots, Cyberpunk, and a great touch of chilling horror that will leave the reader of these particular genres thinking, wondering "what if", and wanting a whole lot more; and these are not the only ones in this perfect-bound book which will entice the reader. Once again, I am honored to have a story among these greats, to have been chosen, and they truly are the writers of tomorrow's generation. If you're a reader of anthologies in the genre(s), don't hesitate. This is a welcome addition to anyone's collection.
