An excellent follow up to her huge comeback album of three years ago. Complaints have been made about the choice of singles. Be that as it may, the album itself has a nice balance of deep lyrics and lightheard, fun tracks.

A very mature album, which seems to be gaining a lot of unnecessary criticism. Many complain that it is too ballad-heavy, but since when has Usher ever been heavy on upbeat tracks? Some of his best work is on this album (His Mistakes being the main one).

A re-released version of Chris's sophomore album. Although generally if the best single off the album is a bonus track, it says quite a bit about the quality of the rest of the album. Forever is still a great song though, but the same can't be said for the other singles.

For some reason the album is not listed here, but this was one of the bigger releases of the year due to the immense popularity of lead single "I Kissed a Girl".

The best debut from a new artist this year. Jazmine's style and vocals are reminiscent of Lauryn Hill. She knows how to balance strong vocals, lyrical depth, and even fun tracks (One Night Stand, Switch) to great effect.

An excellent third album from John Legend, although some have complained that he'd tried to become too commercial because of Green Light. Best track here is the stunning duet Quickly, with Brandy.

Although separating the music onto two discs was arguably unnecessary, this just may be some of Beyonce's best work. Underrated highlights include Broken-Hearted Girl, Smash Into You, and Scared of Lonely.

The most criminally underrated effort of the year, which suffers only from its short tracklisting. This ranks as one of Deborah's best albums, making it truly unfortunate that it will go so overlooked.

An excellent cover album of classics. Seal definitely made the right selections for which tracks to attempt. Standouts include A Change Is Gonna Come, It's a Man's World, and Stand By Me.

The first mainstream R&B release from Michelle Williams, which failed due to poor promotion. The material here is actually quite good, so it's really a shame the album was ignored.

Britney's highly publicized comeback, and follow-up to the excellent Blackout. This album quickly became a huge seller. The quality of the material largely justifies why.

A rather unprecedented country album from Jessica Simpson. Haven't heard this either, as I tend not to like country music.

A totally different style from Anastacia, although she really seemed to be having fun with it. Not her best, but it seems like a good album.

An outstanding debut from an American Idol winner. This is easily one of the best Idol albums, particularly shining on the ballads. David's at his best when showcasing emotive performances.

Personally, I'm not particularly interested in this album. Taylor has a nice voice and some decent songs, but she doesn't hold my attention that much.

Easily one of the most underrated albums of the year. India's material is powerful and deep as always. Excellent lyrics and vocals.

An interesting album, that isn't quite as immediatley engaging as Dido's previous works. It's definitely a grower, and worth the patience.
