![]() | E=MC2 by Mariah Carey
Buy new: $10.97 / Used from: $1.47 An excellent follow up to her huge comeback album of three years ago. Complaints have been made about the choice of singles. Be that as it may, the album itself has a nice balance of deep lyrics and lightheard, fun tracks.
![]() | On My Way Here by Clay Aiken
Buy new: $11.94 / Used from: $0.07 Another album that seemed to have flown under the radar, which is surprising as Clay is generally popular. This is Clay's first album of original material since his debut, and makes an excellent follow-up.
![]() | Here I Stand by Usher
Buy new: $11.94 / Used from: $1.47 A very mature album, which seems to be gaining a lot of unnecessary criticism. Many complain that it is too ballad-heavy, but since when has Usher ever been heavy on upbeat tracks? Some of his best work is on this album (His Mistakes being the main one).
![]() | The Declaration by Ashanti
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $0.90 Another great album that did not get the attention it deserved, despite the excellent choice for its first single. While it's not quite as good as Ashanti's debut, it makes an great addition to her other albums.
![]() | Exclusive by Chris Brown
Buy new: $46.98 / Used from: $78.45 A re-released version of Chris's sophomore album. Although generally if the best single off the album is a bonus track, it says quite a bit about the quality of the rest of the album. Forever is still a great song though, but the same can't be said for the other singles.
![]() | Good Girl Gone Bad by Rihanna
Buy used from: $1.24 Another unnecessary re-release, which gave some of the most irritating tracks of the year (Disturbia for one). This era was just so overplayed, making this release so pointless.
![]() | One of the Boys: Piano/Vocal/Chords (Pvc) by Perry
Buy new: $16.95 / Used from: $8.84 For some reason the album is not listed here, but this was one of the bigger releases of the year due to the immense popularity of lead single "I Kissed a Girl".
![]() | Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams by Solange
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.37 One of the most surprising albums of the year. Solange's sophomore album is a huge improvement over her mediocre debut. Some may find her trying too hard to distance herself from her sister, but in the end, its the quality of the album that counts.
![]() | Fearless by Jazmine Sullivan
Buy new: $11.98 / Used from: $8.49 The best debut from a new artist this year. Jazmine's style and vocals are reminiscent of Lauryn Hill. She knows how to balance strong vocals, lyrical depth, and even fun tracks (One Night Stand, Switch) to great effect.

![]() | Evolver by John Legend

![]() | Jennifer Hudson by Jennifer Hudson
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $3.17 An excellent debut, and one of the better Idol releases. There was some concern when it was announced that Jennifer was re-doing some of her material, but if this is the result, it was well worth it.
![]() | I Am...Sasha Fierce (Deluxe Edition) by Beyoncé
Buy used from: $8.95 Although separating the music onto two discs was arguably unnecessary, this just may be some of Beyonce's best work. Underrated highlights include Broken-Hearted Girl, Smash Into You, and Scared of Lonely.
![]() | Human by Brandy
Buy new: $11.94 / Used from: $2.82 Easily one of the best albums of the year, successfully mixing lyrical depth with commercial appeal. Even at its worst, it remains considerably better much of the other material released recently.
![]() | The Promise by Deborah Cox
Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $4.29 The most criminally underrated effort of the year, which suffers only from its short tracklisting. This ranks as one of Deborah's best albums, making it truly unfortunate that it will go so overlooked.
![]() | Love the Woman by Chanté Moore
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $4.65 Another highly underrated release. Chante has one of the best voices in the industry, but material tends not to be that radio-friendly. Nevertheless, it is a strong album that showcases her talent.
![]() | Soul by Seal
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $5.81 An excellent cover album of classics. Seal definitely made the right selections for which tracks to attempt. Standouts include A Change Is Gonna Come, It's a Man's World, and Stand By Me.
![]() | A Different Me by Keyshia Cole
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $1.88 Possibly her weakest effort, and definitely not up to the standard of her stunning debut. However, Keyshia does offer us another solidly entertaining album, with a voice as strong as ever.
![]() | Unexpected by Michelle Williams
Buy new: $9.97 / Used from: $0.94 The first mainstream R&B release from Michelle Williams, which failed due to poor promotion. The material here is actually quite good, so it's really a shame the album was ignored.
![]() | Funhouse by Pink
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $7.30 A strong follow-up to I'm Not Dead, which was arguably Pink's best album to date. Some have complained this album is too ballad-heavy, so it may be more of a grower.
![]() | Circus by Britney Spears
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $5.29 Britney's highly publicized comeback, and follow-up to the excellent Blackout. This album quickly became a huge seller. The quality of the material largely justifies why.
![]() | The Fame by Lady Gaga
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $7.40 The inescapable debut by Lady Gaga. I have not heard all of it, but have a kind of love-hate feeling toward the singles. They're addictive, but get very annoying. A classic case of overkill.
![]() | Do You Know by Jessica Simpson
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.16 A rather unprecedented country album from Jessica Simpson. Haven't heard this either, as I tend not to like country music.
![]() | Joe Thomas, New Man by Joe
Buy used from: $2.10 The only real problem with this album is that it contains samples of his next release, Signature. It's kind of annoying to have snippets of new material tacked on to the end of an album.
![]() | Heavy Rotation by Anastacia
Buy new: $18.99 / Used from: $8.89 A totally different style from Anastacia, although she really seemed to be having fun with it. Not her best, but it seems like a good album.
![]() | David Archuleta by David Archuleta
Buy new: $13.96 / Used from: $2.00 A major grower of an album, highlight David's excellent voice. The material could use a little work (some seems a little immature), but the talent is definitely there.
![]() | David Cook by David Cook
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $5.56 An outstanding debut from an American Idol winner. This is easily one of the best Idol albums, particularly shining on the ballads. David's at his best when showcasing emotive performances.
![]() | Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits by Christina Aguilera
Buy used from: $7.88 Hard to believe Christina Aguilera has been out for a decade already. This collection shows off some of her biggest hits, as well as an interesting new style with its unheard tracks.
![]() | Fearless by Taylor Swift
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $8.78 Personally, I'm not particularly interested in this album. Taylor has a nice voice and some decent songs, but she doesn't hold my attention that much.
![]() | The Final Riot! by Paramore
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $10.60 A live album showing some of Paramore's best songs. Hayley sounds just as good live as in the studio.
![]() | Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics by India.Arie
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.19 Easily one of the most underrated albums of the year. India's material is powerful and deep as always. Excellent lyrics and vocals.
![]() | Love Chronicles by Divine Brown

![]() | Safe Trip Home by Dido
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.00 An interesting album, that isn't quite as immediatley engaging as Dido's previous works. It's definitely a grower, and worth the patience.
