This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to "like new condition." The 1/4 sheet sander from Skil has a patented Micro-Filter that stops 2x the dust and is easier to empty than other sanders. 2 amp motor to get the job done. Cheap, Warrantied, Loud, & Beefy
Came direct from Skil w/ certificate and everything. It's a little heavier than I was hoping for, but that's only because I was buying it for my girlfriend. I wouldn't say it's a "man's tool", but it's heavier than my office-working girlfriend will really be comfortable with. Also, it's loud. Not so loud that you're likely to lose your hearing, but loud enough for me to start wondering if ear plugs wouldn't be a bad idea (when using it for more than 10 minutes). That being said, though, I think it has some serious balls, and at $20 with a factory-direct warranty replacement for a full year, how can you really complain? Recommended.

When I received this sander I put it right to work. It performed as expected.
It was easy to use and it did a great job. I would recomend this sander to anyone.

Doggone good value
I 100% agree with the first reviewer, the thing has some serious balls. I just got it a few days ago so I haven't really had the opportunity to really wring it out which is why I only gave it 4 stars (nuthins perfect). It is considerably heavier than most of the consumer palm sanders I have used/owned but that just means I put on less pressure and let the thing do it's job. A couple of things I was pleasantly surprised about was the clamping system used to hold the sandpaper. It is much easier to use and get the paper in straight than the wire spring loaded framises some other manufacturers use. The dust collector was another pleasant surprise. I was expecting a cloth baggie with a zipper which is only slightly less messy when you go to empty it than not using it at all, the difference being that the mess is generally localized trying to empty the bag. The only downside is that I haven't checked on the cost of replacing the paper filter. It should last for several years with an occasional blast of shop air but all filters need to be replaced sometime. All-in-all, for under $30, including tax and shipping, I think it is a pretty good deal.
