really cool spidy set
I tend to disagree with the prevoius comment.I as a child had many race tracks and compared with the toys of yesteryear this track offers very high quality and durabilty as far as the tracks being able to stay together they come with little plastic pieces to hold them together when used properly they work great. my boys had a wonderful time. They are now sharing they enthusuiasm with there friends and have a special meeting one night a week when they race.forgot to mention thr cars stick to thr track you just have to develop some skill but once you do,you can really enjoy racing.
Fairly good value
This is a good starter set. I like everything about it except for the ridiculous loop. I always hated those contraptions. The cars were running too fast at first, but after a few days of operation, they slowed down to a reasonably controllable speed. I don't know why this particular set is less expensive than the other comparable GO!!! sets, but that's fine with me because the cars that come in other sets are available for individual purchase or as a matching pair. I found that the number of cars manufactured by Carrera in this scale (1:42) is less than the number and variety available in their debut in about 2004 (I think). Tracks are expandable by purchasing extra pieces or expansion sets. All I can say is that I wish there were more "realistic" cars to choose from instead of the licensed themes they are decorated in. American stock classic cars should be added to this line. The GO!!! series fits much more easily in my home and budget.
bits and pieces
Talk about a stressful Christmas Eve for Santa's helpers! We did finally get the thing together, but keeping it together is another matter. Maybe these race tracks tend to come apart? In any case, it looks good and the boys were excited to see it when they got up on Christmas morning and they did play with it for awhile . . .after Mommy or Daddy put the cars back on the track and adjusted the railings. The bottom line is, make sure your child loves racecars and is willing to adjust it continuously, as it needs it. We did remove the loop and our sons were able to use it a bit more. Our eldest is 6 years old and takes good care of his toys but we did have to put this one back in the box for awhile . . .
