Customer Reviews
lots of fun!
after reading the reviews i decided not to buy this track but as it turned out a friend bought it for my son for his 3rd birthday. so glad she did! i had a hard time putting the track together mostly b/c i didn't realize it needed screws. once i put them in, the track never fell apart. it works great and my husband and i have a fun time racing with our son. the cars have an on/off swith to help save the battery. as long as the battery is good, the cars race around a few laps at a time (unless they crash first!).
Shaking and crashing = happy boys!
We had the original Shake n Go speedway when the boys were younger and it was a great format for teaching them cause-effect relationships (more you shake the farther they go and all that). By its nature it is also more active than a typical "watch the action" toy. With shake n go they have to move around and shake them some more when they run out of juice which my wife and I like (more physical the better!). Now the boys are a bit older and this crash speedway is perfect for them. They've been experimenting with a bunch of different ways to make the cars smash into one another--which they inevitably do. There are as many near crashes as crashes which is almost as much fun. The track assembly was more of a challenge than the last one in that I had to actually pull out the instructions at a couple of points to get it right, but once together it has been rock solid (not sure where the other reviewer ran into assembly trouble, but we didn't have the same experience they did). The boys have also been running and crashing their nascar cars on this track too which doesn't give the big crash payoff like the Crashups, but they still seem to get a charge out of it. This speedway is a great new addition to the line.
Takes a while to assemble!
A heads up for Christmas morning: put it together ahead of time! It took me over a half hour to assemble with three frustrated, trying to be "helpful" boys looking on. I'm not sure the excitement will be long-lived, but it's what my 4 year-old really wanted for his birthday. His 7 & 9 year-old brothers are having fun with it too.
