This is a beauty. As advertised it fits nicely over the 58mm daylight filter protecting my camera's lens. The design is elegant in its simplicity. The plastic is molded perfectly into a circular disc that protects the filter (and hopefully the lens behind it) from foreign and domestic debris. Along the sides the "snap-in" tabs are strategically located at precisely 180 degrees apart. This is very useful when applying pressure to the spring powered tabs for removal or installation of the cap... and it can be done with one hand! Squeezing the tabs together disengages them from the filter (or lens) so that light may enter into the camera. This, as it turns out, is very important in recording images. The tabs themselves ride in highly engineered slots, or grooves. This keeps the tabs in very good alignment. These tabs have little tabs (protrusions) that prevent the big tabs from moving beyond the slots, either in or out. This is a must in that it is these tabs that actually hold the lens cap on the lens (or filter).

The cap is a nearly flat black color. It has just a hint of a satiny luster. Another great feature of the lens cap can be found on the back side of it, molded right into the plastic is a "58mm". This may be a very helpful feature to distinguish it from other lens caps, if you have several lens caps of similar size. This certainly shows a higher level of design and an effort to make the product user friendly. Kudos to Tiffen!

I would have given it 5 stars except that the lens cap I received did not have "ADORAMA" written across the front of it. I really like the iris like "O" in the name. I was looking forward to showing it off to all of my friends. I spent a great deal of time pondering the pros and cons of sending it back to get one as shown in the Amazon picture, but decided to keep this one anyway. It does provide a "blank slate" if I want to create my own logo. I ordered the lens cap on Aug 7, it was sent out on Aug 9 and I received it on Aug 18 via USPS.

In conclusion, the lens cap is a very useful if not indispensable item for you lens. I highly recommend buying one.
