The CMTHPX10W comes ready to play with a combined receiver, 5-disc CD changer, a cassette deck, and two speakers. In addition to audio CDs, the CMTHPX10W allows you to enjoy MP3s in your stereo from CD-Rs or through a wireless audio link to your PC.

The 1-bit digital-to-audio converter reproduces a warm, natural sound from your CDs, making you feel like you were there when the music was recorded. The 5-disc changer can play prerecorded audio CDs as well as audio CD-Rs, CD-RWs, mini CDs, and MP3s. A wireless audio transfer feature allows you to play audio files from your PC or other wireless compatible device through the CMTHPX10W.

You can program the CMTHPX10W to play CDs one by one, at random, or in your own track order. With the remote and the front-panel controls, you can easily skip, sample, and repeat tracks. With the play exchange feature, you never have to stop the music to add new CDs into the changer.

Wake up to your favorite music or radio station with the CMTHPX10W's timer feature. You can also use it as a sleep timer that shuts off automatically as you fall asleep listening to music. The AM/FM radio allows you to preset 20 FM and 10 AM stations. The cassette deck on the CMTHPX10W automatically synchs up with the CD player to make recording from CDs easy.

Seems like it would be okay if it worked.2
I just got this stereo system for Christmas, but sadly I will be taking it back to the store. Within the first afternoon of setting it up it has begun malfunctioning. Right out of the box the wireless transmitter did not work. Then the CD tray stopped working after the first few uses. It would open, but after a second or two would close again of its own accord. No matter how many times I tried I couldn't get the tray to stay open. I had to be really quick to rescue my CDs from it!

I'm not someone who bad mouths a piece of electronics because of a techincal problem. Sometimes things break, and maybe I just got a lemon. But I won't be replacing this unit with the same kind. The sound that it put out was just okay. At medium volumes for mellow listening it sounded fine, but I couldn't coax much room-filling bass from it when I wanted to increase the energy a bit. The EQ controls are pretty limited. This might make a good office system, but my living room is going to need a system with some more low end response (i.e. with a sub-woofer).

GREAT but...4
This system was my first speaker system and it worked great. It is very loud and has great features and the cd player is amazing. It has no distortion at high volumes and last a long time. it is really easy to hook up to anything. The only thing is that if your gonna spend under 200 bucks, i would recommend looking and finding a system like the Sony Gx450 or better yet the Sony Gx555. They are SO loud and have even more features than this, but you migh have to spend a little more but it is worth it. If you are on a tighter budget, these are really good though.
